Does anyone have an experience with Georgia Arms lead bullets for .38/.357. I was at a local gun show today and stopped by their booth. The fellow I talked to was very friendly and their products were attractively priced ($29 for 500 148gr HBWC with Brinell hardness of 18 ). I didn't buy anything because I'm fully stocked at the moment, a decision I now regret.

I have not purchased their lead bullets, but I do buy their loaded ammo and I'm very pleased with it. A quality outfit in my opinion - I personally wouldn't hesitate to give their components a try. Perhaps others have direct experience with the bullets per your question.

I know it. I elected not to purchase because I have about 1500 Missouri and Penn bullets in the queue ready to be loaded, and I was already lugging a big box of Zero 9mm JHP around the show. But in hindsight, I should have picked up a box of 500 to do some testing.
We have another show in three months so all is not lost. I'll be ready for some more bullets then.
A hollow base wadcutter is generally soft lead, meant for target shooting and anything over 900 or 1000 fps is going to start leading your barrel.

I've been loading the Georgia Arms cast 200gr 45 ASP (they are copper washed) and they load and shoot great. Not sure if the copper wash makes them shoot any better groups, but they feed great in both my 1911's. Liked them so well that I picked up some this weekend at the Raleigh gun show to load 9mm.

GA Arms doesn't make or sell HBWC bullets. They have DEWC bullets and they are cast very hard.
They have decent machine cast (typical Magma design moulds) bullets. I would suggest the 158 gr. SWC they have as the best general purpose design they offer.

I've seen them at gun shows and they are DEWC not HBWC. Call them. they have a webpage and contact info.

After some extensive testing 38 bullets shot at target velosity 700-850 fps need to be close to pure lead. If the bullet is as hard as advertised, at the low pressure of those velosities the bullet won't swage up and will cause leading because of gas/flame cutting in the blow by. This was proven through testing on a Ransom Rest last summer in a S&W and a Colt that a friend shoots in the Distinguished Revolver Bullseye Matches. He found the Hornady 158 round nose swaged and knurled to be the most accurate. Runner up was the X-treme 158 round nose Cowboy bullet. The interesting thing the Ransom also identified that round nose bullets were more accurate than the semi-wadcutter ones. I attribute this phenonen to the added weight up front caused the bullet to reach a null wobble quicker.

i just talked to my gunsmith about georgia arms and he said they made good quality reloads !!!!!!
