from Social Security. Says I could draw $212 per month "at full retirement age".
That's HA-HA funny (to me anyway) and I already know they're lying.

Just wait until they tell you that they over paid you and why didn't you catch the error and send the money back. No matter, for the next two months you'll be getting $39 per month. Azzholez!

Just to clarify, IF (and that's a monumental if) I got a $250K/year job and worked it for another 10 years paying the full amount of SS, I would get SS benefits(just a guesstimate). That's how much it would take to bump SSA bennies above my CSA retirement.
$212 per month is pitiful(I'll gross over 75% of that TODAY on a work run I have scheduled) but then, I haven't paid much into SS. Bad thing is, I'm now paying those deductions on my current salaries even though I'll never get any of it back.

About 16 months to go. No idea what I'll get, but I will take every penny. I will soak medicare for all I can. I've paid through the nose for these for many years, I'm taking everything I can back.

I am 65 now and my first year on Medicare I have had two very expensive medical procedures one out-patient and the other in the hospital for 3 days and my wife just had a serious surgery and spent 5 days in the hospital. If it wasn't for Medicare and supplemental insurance we would be sunk. I have no complaints.

I've worked since I was 14 years old and paid SS on whatever I earned; Even when in the Army and getting laughable pay, they STILL took out the SS. So when I retired, yeah, I filed for it and now collect around $1300/Mo. However for the last THREE years they (Washington) has decided that the COST OF LIVING has not increased so the supposed raises are again laughable while the cost of my Medicare went up equal to or slightly more than the supposed increase. I guess those morons in DC don't do the grocery shopping, don't pay for their own gasoline and get everything else free. Should I mention how the Auto Insurance creeps up every year?
I AM fortunate in that I can and DO get medical care through the VA, prescriptions are $5-$9 a month, and I did get my glasses, had cataract surgery and back surgery at no cost, along with a CPAP machine and compression stockings to control the swelling in my legs and ankles.

They say that Social Security has run out. That is a LIE. It hasn't run out it was stolen by democraps. Notice they never run out of welfare. That's because they depend the welfare, sit on your arse folks for votes. I'm tired of it. Shut down welfare, and put people to work. No welfare for illegals. If you don't pay in you don't get anything. Democraps are looking to penalize people that have worked all their life. If you worked for it, it's owed you. Period.

I guess this means it's time to move this.

Haven't paid in for 35+ years (City Job w/retirement). Took mine at 66 - first year they don't deduct $1 for every $3 you earn. Getting about $1,050 until I retire then they will take 40-60% because I have a "good" retirement. I did the math on the wife's and she took hers early. It'd take over 13 years to balance out if she waited another 3 years. Signed up for hospital part of medicare but I have no premium. Don't need the other parts since I'll have good medical and $5/10 perscriptions.

Why would they take 40-60% for your retirement? I am retired military with a monthly check I was told the $1 for $3 deduction would not apply to my retirement check. That it only applies to income received as a paycheck.

I took a $1.00 bill out of my first check and framed it to hang on the wall. I'll never be broke now, but I'll never be rich out of SS anyway. I also tried to lend some Chinese money to the govt. and they wouldn't borrow it. I'll die poor but happy!

Count your blessings, for all your protestations of your paying into it SS is a socialist pyramid scheme. At least you guys are high enough up on the scheme you will get some of your payment back. I look at it as a surtax that is flushed down the toilet called the Federal government.

I guess I am lucky. The only Social Security payment ever taken out of my pay was when I was in the USAF, 1949 to 1954. I have never worked for a salary since I became a civilian in 1954.

I don't even know if I could file for Social Security even if I wanted to. I am not interested in Medicare either since I have had a Medical Savings Account for over 55 years that has always paid the full cost of health care for my family while growing in value so that I have never even needed Health Insurance. I do annually pay a penalty for not having Health Insurance under the "Obamacare" tax law.

Wow, I'm a long way from this. I had no idea social security was so low. You guys don't make it sound very appealing.

It's not so bad - We get 3 square meals (or more) each day, we manage to pay for taxes, insurance, CATV + other utilities (gas, electric, phone, etc), and as seniors, we also qualify for more "free" stuff (like getting my home fully-insulated for the bubble) than I can shake a stick at.

IMO, the reduced income has been worth it - a LOT better than commuting back/forth to work, having to deal with morons on a daily basis, and other things related to having to actually work for a living.

The unlimited time I now have for hunting, fishing (and napping ;) ) is just icing on the cake.

You are right, it's not...
I started paying-in in 1965, started drawing it in 2015...$1772 per month, after they hold out for Medicare.
The only thing that save's me is that I saw what was coming and worked real-hard at paying off my property and all other debt before it got here. In other words, ya don't need much income if ya don't have much out-go, so that's how I make it work for me. Well, that in conjunction with a garden, pigs and a couple of cows.

I was on a job in Wisconsin this spring, and was told by another former Marine that there's a form to fill out BEFORE you start collecting SS that will give any veteran an extra $100 a month. I haven't had a chance to check into it yet, but he's a pretty straight guy, millwright by trade. i'll have to wait till I get some time at home to try and dig out the info.

Your SS benefit depends on what you earn for your highest 35 years of employment, up to the maximum SS monthly benefit.

Some facts from the link provided below in case you don't care to read the whole article.

The maximum SS per month in 2017 is $3,538.
The average SS benefit in 2017 is $1,360 per month, and most folks get between $800 and $1,800.
SS typically pays roughly 40% of pre-retirement income.

I was told yesterday that my post retirement income may qualify me for a "little bit" of SS payout. I had to make an appointment since even though only 1/2 the employees were busy, I couldn't just walk in and get my question answered.
Gives me another chance to aggravate the armed guard at the entrance. He's sitting there in the open at a desk with nothing but a computer monitor and asks me if I have any guns, knives, tasers, mace, or a whole list of stuff. I answered "No, but if I did, you'd be the first to know". That seemed to sort of put him off.
