Everytime there is a storm coming, my wife asks me if we have a generator. Not if it’s ready, if we have one. 😂. Like it blew away since last time.

But this thread is about her shopping.

Every time a storm is coming, she buys a dozen flash lights and long matches. We have 100’s of flashlights and no fireplace. Why do I need long matches?

Today a small electric chain saw arrived. I have at least 6 chain saws. Her reasoning? It was only $12.

Do your wives do similar things?

Actually, Miss Penny is quite frugal. She will ASK before any purchase that would affect both of us. But when it comes to her hobbies,, I never question her. And she doesn't question me,, except to maybe say; "Let me see that XYZ" And sometimes that's said,, right before; "I like this,, can I have it?"

My wife asked me yesterday if we have to get the tank pumped on the house in town if we are on town sewer. I said you would have to pump it from the waste water treatment plant and not sure where you would take it from there since everyone else brings it there to be dumped. She gave me a confused look and after an explanation of how sewage works she exclaimed how would I have known that?!
one of many explanations over the years

My wife bought a cute little battery-operated chain saw. It's a 4" cut, one-hand unit with a pivoting guard over the top of the chain/bar that allows cut-thru of sizeable stuff safely. Came in a nice plastic hinged case, and includes a spare battery, a battery charger, and a spare chain. It's the handiest darn thing I've seen lately, and I use it a lot. 😁 :ROFLMAO: 😁

thankfully no. Mrs. Bee is a very frugal and conscientious shopper.

she just left for the gym and she's picking up our premium OLED big screen at Costco afterwards.

You might recall the recent thread about tv's, we've been thoroughly researching them a month or so and just arrived at the best decision we could make yesterday. we measure twice and cut once. ;)

neither of us waste our hard earned money on chinesium junk or impulse purchases, rather we save for quality goods that will hopefully last and not have to be replaced often.

online shopping outlets and big box stores will nickel and dime you into poverty with useless felgercarb if you let them.

as for storm and disaster preparedness, she's a LEO/.mil so we're covered. most of our flashlights are streamlight, surefire, pelican, etc. that we carried on duty for years and can be depended on when we need them. we stock fresh high quality batteries as well.

we have generators and chainsaws too, no toys but a small assortment of Stihl. I have a cordless sawzall and Mrs. Bee has here pruners and loppers for lightwork.

too many gadgets out there are solutions in search of a problem, I have enough trouble keeping up with the problems I already have, don't need any extra solutions creating more. 🙃

Get a Silky - no battery (or gas) required. Just a bit of steak.

"We" have about a dozen each of: hand crank flashlights, weather radios (some also hand crank), and cases of 12oz bottled water. In plastic of course.

My wife is as cheap as me.... Typically we don't buy "squat" (especially nothing related to "emergencies" or "shortages"). We've made do with what we have around. So far, so good at 81 1/2.

You should give her a hug every day........
It sounds like you know how good you have it......

Linda has had her 'hobby's' over the years. I have enough stained glass to refurbish the Sistine Chapel. Pottery equipment takes up another 1/4 of the basement. We have always been a "if you want it and can afford it; buy it " family. She does her 'thing' and I have a couple guns and a few tools.

You know you should tell he for storms you really need protection. Every time she asks if you have a generator say yes I bought one. Then ask if she picked up a Ruger. Or you could just say storms coming I picked up a new 6" GP100!

Wife has a good job and has her money.

I have a good job and have my money.

We each contribute to the general fund which is for household costs, vacations, etc.

She buys what she wants, I buy what I want.

Sometimes I think if another gun or pair of shoes gets added, the house may sink into the earth.

As far as odd things, she came home with a new leaf rake. Said the other one was ugly.

The only thing that my wife is buying endlessly is fabric for her quilting projects. Her sewing room contains as much fabric as a small fabric store. I think it is her way of convincing herself that she will never die since all that fabric has to be sewn into something someday.

A few years back I bought an electric chain saw since it seemed like something that might come in handy, and was not expensive. Fortunately I own several 100 foot extension cords, but I wish I had bought a battery operated one instead. Probably once a year or so the chain saw comes out of the garage and I use it to trim branches or shrubbery. When we were hit with a F1 tornado six years ago it came in more than handy in getting tree limbs and debris out of my driveway. Thankfully I have a 2KW generator so I was able to run the saw even without city power, and then plugged the refrigerator into the generator to avoid losing our food.

My wife is sort of, somewhat and mainly a guy just buys dresses, bright red lipstick and prances and frolicks around his queen Tay Tay Swift. Me: You are starting to weird me out like you are a former Biden cabinet member with this. I may need to lock up sharp objects soon. He does not really do any of that but no doubt he would if it cracked me up as if he doesn't with his typical fun silliness I have gotten used to with the past 17 years! :)

Where can I get a $12 chainsaw? 😉😁
Yeah, those little chain saws sound fun.

As for silly things my wife buys…

We have tons of kitchen gadgets and pots and pans. She doesn’t like cooking with my cast iron and carbon steel. So she buys her own. So two big sets of cookware.
