front sight issues

I have a blue RBH convertible and need more front sight.Is there a way to remove my factory front sight with out having to reblue the gun?I am going to install an alpha precision front sight,if I can get the factory one off without having to blue the gun.

Will the Alpha Precision sight completely cover where the old sight was? I don't have one here to compare. You will discolor the blue slightly removing the sight. Keeping your torch on the sight only will help minimize it. Here are some I have replaced with taller sights.

The last one I did once I learned where to heat with the torch. The marks on the sight are from pliers and a few hits with a hammer and punch to check my soldering. They have since been filed and polished away. Better to check it here than in the field

Well, there is another option. You could have the front sight blade (only) milled off,,and mill a slot for a taller blade in the base of the sight. Then,, a drilled hole can be used to put a pin in to hold the taller replacement blade. Look at some of the NM stainless ones that are done like that.

Hamilton Bowen has "got you covered" since he makes a front sight blade specifically designed to drop into a "plunge cut" slot milled in a soldered on Ruger front sight base.

You'll end up with something similar to my .45 shown here, however it's front sight assembly is 100% Ruger.
