Fried fish row

As a child in the 1960's, I remember my dad coming home from fishing, and my mom would gut and clean the fish, many of which were full of eggs (row).
She would season the row, roll it in corn meal and deep fry it.
It was absolutely delicious! I haven't had fried fish row since at least 1967, and have never found a restaurant that serves it.

Anyone here ever had fried row?

Yep,, I've done the same thing all my life. And yes,, it's delicious!

Catfish roe is excellent, bass is even better.

I remember that during the spring the shad would be running and people in this area would catch the shad and also fry the roe with eggs as part of the meal. I tried it once as a kid and vowed never again. YUCK!
