Found a Gorget (Relic/Artifact)

I cant find out much about this. It was found in my area of Missouri (I am 45 miles south of St. Louis, Mo.) The item measures 6 1/4" long and 2 1/2" wide (at the widest point). Any idea of value?

Ornamental/ceremonial item, usually worn on the upper chest suspended from the neck. Some say the "crescent moon" on the SC flag is actually a gorget, a common military ornament of the day.

Looks like Catlinite, too -- quite uncommon.

It is stone. I believe it is made from banded slate. It was found in Missouri in the Goldman area.

I don't think it's worth much. Indians don't use them items any more.
