I am new to the Ruger revolver world. Can you tell me what a flatgate that is 98 to 99% with no box or papers is worth? May have a chance to purchase this gun. Input much appreciated.

Need pics and serial number... A wide range in values. $250 for a shooter up to several thousand for a factory engraved model.

There are four generally recognized variations of the Flatgate Single-Sixes (Engraved guns not included.) Their values are basically related to their production numbers.
The early guns feature a differently configured "breech face" and slightly different rollmarks. They have become the most valuable.
