This showed up at the LGS, it's been laying on the bottom shelf for a couple weeks.vI am so tempted, but I hate overpaying.I won't say what it would cost me (yet), but what say you?
No end shake, very little bluing loss.

A lot depends on what area of the country you live in. You living in CA the price will probably be more than say someone living in the center of the US. That one, as shown, in most states would probably bring/sell for about $650.

I went to true gun value & they say average is $530. Prices ranged from$450 to $700. One SS, in NY, for $1013 (pass).
Saw one on Gun Broker with starting bid of $695.

I just bought a 4" a couple months ago with a weird aftermarket grip I took off and sold cheap and replaced with OEM (small) wood from Ron and I paid less than $500 for what it's worth.

I own a excellent condition Security Six (stainless steel) 6" with Serial No. 158-46XXX. It looks like the same grips I have on mine and it's considered a "Big Grip" GA-36T according to the original box it came in. Not sure if it's same model or increases the value? Here in NW Ohio as low as $550 to $650 I'm guessing in a gunstore.

Bought a stainless 4 inch made in the 200th year of Liberty for 600 from a passerby at a local gun show Sunday. About 99%+. Think I did good.

Here stainless seem to bring more money ….. like in the $50 to $75 more.
This gun be $500 - $550 around here without box. Box not a huge add since you can typically buy Six Series boxes for $35 to $45 depending on condition and “need”.

Well,my LGS priced it at $500 (before the outrageous California fees and taxes) .
Here, it's a bit of a rarity, since it's not a C&R,and the only ones that can be bought here are the ones already in the state.
It will be mine in 10 days.

Security Six prices tend to be all over the map, in my experience. You may still find one for less than $500, or they may be asking $800. If in top shape and especially with box, I tend to think $600 or so is a fair price, but I might also pay a little more than that for a particularly nice one.

a "Big Grip" GA-36T

Funny …. I recently bought a near mint “Big Grip” box. Don’t have the gun for it but couldn’t remember how many years it had been since I had seen one. Not a bad idea to have a spare / extra Six box laying around just in case …..

I’m curious. I know California has some really bad and onerous gun laws. But I didn’t know you couldn’t bring in an approved model from outside the state as a used gun. So that means if you found one on gun broker and wanted to buy it you couldn’t buy it unless the seller was in California?

The "Approval" must be renewed every year,and this model ended production before Arnold even signed it into law,so it was never approved. If it was 50 years old or more,it would be exempt(C&R),or if it was a single action it would be exempt (sweetheart deal with SASS).
So, the answer is "yes" ,one cannot bring a currently unapproved handgun into California.
Sadly,a handgun that was deemed "approved "at one point in time,is no longer approved unless it s approval is renewed every year.
The cost of this approval is borne by the manufacturer and passed along to buyers in all states!

I Think only the" low backs " are c&R's,but only by a year. Now, each year that passes will see more become available to Californians,

Think they started in late 1970 …. Some 151-prefix guns likely be included if my memory is correct.
