Fitting Blackhawk Hammer spring to New Model Flattop?

Has anyone managed to fit a standard Blackhawk Mainspring to a New Model Flattop?
I cant stand how light mine hammer spring is in mine and miss the lock time of the standard spring in my other Rugers.
Figured I'd see if anyone has cut one down to fit?

Did yours come with the lock?
I believe those used the same weight spring but with less coils. If the lock was removed or converted, and the same spring reused they could become sluggish.
If You want to beef yours up, you could slowly shim it with small washers till you get what you want.
Or just get a new spring.

Mine is a no lock model . I have guessed thats a factor as the New Model Vaquero's I've been around have had the lock and a stiffer hammer spring.

If your Blackhawk is a no lock model you should be able to use a standard weight spring from any Blackhawk. My experience with the model with the lock was it used a shorter spring but my Flat Top Bisley (No lock) uses a standard spring. Is yours different from mine?

The Bisley grip frames on the flat tops are the same as on the standard guns and use the same spring .

Post a picture of what you got.

Count the coils.

IMO you have something in there tha5 is not correct.

If you want the fastest spring, go to Wolff and order a specific. 15#-28#

Standard factory is 23#

Old Army Spring was a heavier (IIRC 26#) Was often ordered and changed out back in the day when one could get them from Ruger.

Just got off the phone with Ruger and they said the the hammer spring for the flattop is the same as the New Vaquero. They sent me a new spring for free , will see if its better than whats in it . If that does not work I will start experimenting :p

YUPPPPPER....Go to Wolff Springs website and pick the "pounds" you want.... I keep several different weights in my stash (I'm quite sure that they fit both old model and new model as well as Bisley and Plow-handle models.
