First shoot with new SR9c

Took my new SR9c to the range for the first time and was IMPRESSED! Best 9mm experience ever! Soft recoil, bullets go where you point them, consistent. Out of the box it was flawless -- ate 200 rounds of Rem FMJ and JHP as well as Blazer FMJ without a hiccup.

With one minor exception: twice during the session I pulled the trigger and nothing happened. No change in resistance, nothing. Pulled it a second time (no recock, slide pull, nothing except pull it again) and it fired.

Any ideas?

With no change in resistance and the ability to retry the shot and get it to fire both times, I'd say you're crazy. However, I've seen failures to reset before, but never with the ability to simply pull the trigger again. Mechanically, the SR pistols are not capable of that. Only thing I can logically think of is that you didn't pull the trigger far back enough. The Trigger Bar is forced down to cause the Striker to break off the TB, however, if there's any issue with the TB's alignment (across the axis perpendicular to the bore of the barrel) then it could slip out of the groove and cause false pulls. It would still push the Striker back, but wouldn't slip off the tab and let it loose.

Without seeing the issue firsthand or without more information, I can't honestly say 100% what was wrong. It could be user error in that you weren't pulling 100% of the pull, or there's an alignment issue causing it to fail to fire. The latter (which is me really trying hard to think of an issue that could cause this and I've not yet seen as an issue before, just a theory currently) would require testing and Ruger's assistance, the former would require practice and more learning of the specifics of the trigger.

As far as the original problem: That's why I asked. I've got a little over 50 years history with handguns and I never experienced this one before. Could it be a lack of familiarity with the model? Sure! I like everything else about the SR9c and will continue to try to find out what it was that caused the problem. Thanks for your input.

Actually that happened to me once in 1300 rounds. I believe I didn't quite let the trigger all the way back pulled, nothing, let all the way off and pulled again and fired. I blew it off as my bad.

With my first three shots I hit dead center... Better then my $1,000+ SIG's :shock: :shock: out of the box.

I really think Ruger has something that will give Glock a run for their money... :roll:

Did you check the spent casting & primer? it could have been a bad primer. Maybe something wasn't alined right then 1st trigger pull streightened it out?

Nope. Didn't recock. For now I'm going with trigger error on my part -- either didn't pull all the way (very doubtful) or didn't release enough (more probable since both were on rapid fire). Back with another session next week and I'll try to find a pattern.

Mine was under rapid fire as well, and I believe I did not allow the trigger to 100% reset.

this happens with mine occasionally. it does come from not fully letting the trigger reset, has something to do with the double trigger far as i can tell.
