FINALLY, a working furnace

Well, almost. They only put a test fill of 3-4 gallons in the tank which was enough to do the start-up and make sure all the connections were good.
AND IT ONLY TOOK 60 DAYS.
I was getting pretty upset over the constant flipflopping regarding just what the propane supplier expected of me. Each glitch no matter how slight sent me back the tail of the waiting list. Most certainly, I want this done correctly and safely but some of these things were illogical. At one point, a service tech told me to punch the hole for the gas line in a specific spot(and call for an appointment to have the regulator installed). A different tech showed up a week later and told me that was too close to the ignition air intake and I'd have to punch another hole(but he couldn't wait the 5 minutes it would take me to drill that 1/2" hole so back to the end of the line AGAIN).
Finally, I sent an email to the corporate HQ outlining my difficulties and pointing out that it was getting darned cold here. That was 8:30AM yesterday. Just after 9AM I got a call from the local manager asking just what I needed to fix this problem. By 1PM, 2 guys were here with a tank, trencher, and all the goodies to finish the job.
This will certainly take a lot of worry off my shoulders

My furnace has been broken down for over a week now, with daytime highs sometimes below freezing and nighttime temps in the high teens.
I ordered parts on Amazon, which came yesterday. Today I play furnace mechanic...so I can feel your pain.

Good luck, it IS starting to get cold. At least it's not February...

I fear with parts shortages and old-hands being replaced by newbies, we'll have to factor in delays and keep on top of work being done. Just when I'm getting less willing and less capable of dealing with this stuff. Sigh.

Patience helps. But my supply of this is also low. Double Sigh.

Opinion (mine):

You were too complacent. It is VERY good to start out being Mr. Nice-guy, but only
for a while. After two or three times, it pays to let them know of your "discontent". :shock:
Many, if not most, contractors appreciate your being polite and easy to work with.
However, once they figure you are going to let them walk all over you, you slip to
the lowest priority customer on their list.

Once you raised your fury level, it sounds like their attention was also "enhanced".
Good luck with the effort, and I hope you need do no more than being available.

With the tank now filled, the furnace is running like a champ. It's a bit louder than the old furnace but that extra fan force will be appreciated when the weather gets cold.
