Ever build an Estes rocket?

I just stumbled upon this thread. (I was gone when it was being posted.)

I'll join a bunch of y'all and say I too built several model rockets. Heck,, about 15-20 years ago,, I bought & built a few more,, but never got around to launching them. I think they are still around here somewhere.

I too did a few "different" things with mine when I was a kid. But when I blew one up in flight, it happened to be when the local Chief of Police was nearby & saw it. He gave me a stern "discussion" at the time & it curbed my experimentation.

Taught an aerospace science class for awhile, had the kids start with kites and we finished with rockets, covered everything in between, we built everything by hand and with kits, The kids even built a working wind tunnel from a 20" PVC sewer pipe (6, 9, & 12 mph measured) made wings from foam board and flew them in the tunnel. the Estes rockets were the last. we had kits and then the kids got crazy creative, if the could figure out how to mount a motor on it they tried to launch it.
