I bought this pin some forty five years ago when I was in college. It was the first product that I'd seen with the warning, "Caution: Product contains functional sharp point."

Back in 1981, people thought that this was great. I'd be greeted with chuckles and smiles because people got the joke.

Today, no one gets it. In this great day of multicultural acceptance, people just don't get it. Maybe I need a pin of a shamrock that says "Allah Akhbar!"

Let me be the first to say. What? I don't get it either. I guess I'm not Jewish or Irish so maybe I'm not supposed to get it. The last Irish immigrant I worked with said he couldn't wear green because he was on the "orange" side as was his entire family. He explained the warring factions were identified in Ireland by color with people in his town not going into the other sides neighborhood.

SMH. It's the cultural juxtaposition.

For the record, I am neither Irish nor Jewish. I'm thinking that you never picked up a date and had her grandmother grab your face and say, "What a punim!"

Makes me think of a story my daughter told. She was visiting her grandmother for Christmas and New Years, and there were other grandkids there who came from less ethnically diverse areas. My daughter made a pork roast and sauerkraut for dinner on New Years Day. Her cousins commented that they weren't used to such exotic food. I can only imagine what they would have thought about pierogi.

Best can do with the title is say that back when I was a teenager starting to think about the future and what I would do when I was grown I thought about being a standup black comedian until I finally realized I was not funny enough......
