I've been around guns a long, long time and own way more than a guy really needs, but as most of you here I always "need" another one. A term I am really not quite sure the meaning of is "endshake". Can someone explain??

Thanks guys, great forum!!

how far forward and aft you can move the cylinder when it is locked up in the frame.

lots of endshake = inconsistent barrel/cylinder gap. problems are lead spitting, etc. at the gap, loss of velocity, accuracy issues, etc.

One side note. All guns have some amount of forward and aft movement. Otherwise the cylinder would be hard to install and there would be drag when rotating. It's not discernable in a well built gun though. Mass produced revolvers typically have a 0.001 - 0.002. The really well built customs and FAs are measured in ten-thousandths (as in 0.0001" which means it's not noticeable).
