You have scored a NICE one.
It's not a 'first day" production,, but instead,, it's a "subscription" gun. Ruger set aside a serial number for many people,, and most are under the first 500. A subscriber bought all of the new guns with the same number. Usually thay are not made the first day,, but rather a bit later after they have checked to see if there are any bugs to work out.
But,, you do have a 2 digit,, hard to find gun! Congrats!

I knew the whole collection of #26's were sold and then broken up- but I am surprised one ends up in a Pawn Shop!! Anyway, if it is not hot- you got a really nice one!!

Hey ENU, Tucsonite found my SC6 #500004 in a pawn shop in AZ and the #4 collection is still intact.....I had the pleasure of viewing it in it's entirety several years ago.....the collection had SC6 #60-00004 :wink: :wink: :wink: who knows what happened.....RR.

Wayne Fleming, the son-in-law of Mr. Brownell (of Brownell's) got all of the 26s starting in '57 or so...don't know when that stopped, I know the Super Beacat (1971) went to him...
Ruger may or may not authenticate WHO it was shipped too, they are picky about that...they pretty much will just tell you the ship date and model number..

Well if you tell them who it was shipped to....they will verify it.....BUT only if you are correct :!: :!: :!: I gave them about 10 names on the phone one time and none were right :? :? :? But when I got the right name they were happy to verify it :lol: :lol: :lol: seems like a silly game but that is what we have.....RR.

I had S/N 33 for years and just let it go recently. Just curious, which front sight blade does yours have? The early blades were either all black or with a square orange insert. I have had both. Later they started using a rounded insert and I guess still continues to this day.

These are some very nice pictures!
An ingenious use of a spike rack; had never thought of that, I think I have a couple of sets of spikes that look just like that. I am going to dig them out and try to use for photos or a display.

I had #138 for awhile. It Had the same front sight insert, more of a dovetail fit IIRC.

low number guns pop up in odd places Last year I bought No. 3 SN 9 from a small auction house actual sn is 130-50009
