D30-97732 I have this noted as a -36X
D30-97886 -36X
D30-97963 I have noted as a -34
D30-98090 -34X
D30-98287 -36X
D30-98529 -36X

Thanks, Chad.

Added the new ones, here and on Bob's List.

Noted our discrepancies.

Added 97929 to Bob's List.

98404 and 98540 were already on Bob's List, however Bob has D30-98404 (BKH34) in his posession and a letter stating it was shipped as a duplicate. What we may have here is a "matching up" of a "D" gun with its "non-D" doppleganger.

PM sent.

:)

Yes..is true. I don't know of the prior owner received two different letters from the RCA or if he requested a letter on each to see how they'd come out, but I doubt very seriously if he ever owned the non "D" gun.
30-98404 was shipped 6/71 and D30-98404 was shipped 3/72

30-98540 lives here in Missouri, and I have verbal confirmation (though I did not obtain an actual letter) from the nice lady in Records that it shipped as a BKH34, not as a convertible.

Ale-8(1), I do not recall the ship date. Probably should have asked for the letter.

Chet, it is without the "D", as seen here...

Chet15, he of Red Eagle News Exchange fame, offered up the following comment in another thread. It's this kind of information that makes Ruger collecting so interesting . . . and also makes his data base so valuable. I offer my profound thanks for this contribution.

"There were no "D" marked flattops."

"Ruger did make 9 "A" prefixed 10" .357's which are essentially duplicate guns, but was so early in the game for Ruger on the "duplicating" dilemma that they hadn't thought of marking them with a "D"....marked them with an "A" instead."

"Two "A" prefixed 10" guns have been reported through the years, but the current whearabouts of each is unknown today. The matching numbers to the "A" guns are also 10" .357's, but of those none have been reported matching the two "A" guns that were reported long ago."

"Chet15"

For those interested, he lists the "A" guns as A31571 thru A31579 in the RENE Reference.

Bob's List has record of A31574, as well as 31579 and A31579.

I thought consecutive s/n's were hard to find.........

Matching up a "D" gun and its' "non-D" counterpart seems impossible.....

but, I learned long ago to "never say never" when it comes to Ruger Collecting..... :D

I'm not certain it was "gone" . . . I just couldn't find it.

Thanks for the link.

It is now the highest 30-prefix duplicate on Bob's List.

And it's a $400 "buy now" . . . not bad, guys.

:)

I think -- I hope -- I have updated the list to include all those we have seen so far.

Keep 'em coming.
