S&W Model 59

I saw there was one listed in the classifieds, and remembered that I had one socked away somewhere...After quite a search, I finally found it!
Mine dates to 1979-80...And, I believe it was a police trade-in that I picked it up for a very reasonable price back around 15 years ago, as I far as I can recall?

Think I'll take it out and put some rounds through it here shortly.

You should. In 1975 I joined the Dallas Police. A number of officers carried it. I dont recall seeing one fail at the range.

My brother had one. Sadly, it was confiscated by the police when he foolishly told a cop that he had a gun in his glove box. He was arrested for carrying without a license and the gun was part of the deal his lawyer struck.

Many now days seem to think any hi cap 9 is a "Wonder 9". But not so; the 59 was the original. When the 59s were introduced, they did not have a good reputation for reliability. I had Hi Powers and 39s back then, but never invested in a 59. Some have reported good reliability with their examples. Hopefully yours is one of the good ones...

Put a couple mags of Winchester 115gr FMJ Forged USA through it Wednesday evening. Done just fine, and if it'll run that crap, it'll work with pretty much anything!
Put another 90 rounds of Winchester Target and Practice 115gr FMJ this afternoon without a hitch.
