I've more than once now stressed myself out simulating point-shoot, tight grip method and in the heat of the moment failed to release the trigger beyond the first tumbling click, but not that second little tight click. This is the first revolver I've owned with this tiny feature and even with my fair amount of experience this little hiccup almost feels like a malfunction when it happens. Worries me actually. There are actually two little gotchas when you fail to release the trigger all the way. First you might just rotate to the next round and skip one, that's bad enough but less frequently the trigger gets hard stuck or blocked from coming back. Of course in both cases simply let go and it fixes itself. I'd read or heard someone mention this before but didn't even think it would be an issue until I started practicing the close point shoot drills which are so quick you don't have time to always think about the mechanics of it all. Should I be able to simply train my way around this? I know my mind is feeling the trigger click forward and automatically pulling again, I didn't think good technique dictated you completely release the trigger like that but the LCR almost demands it.

What are thoughts from more experienced people than me? Sorry to keep asking questions like this but I believe I'm slowly getting all my bases covered. It even crossed my mind to find out if anything can be done to improve this with a gun smith taking a look.

Thanks in advance.

You're thinking too much about it and getting caught in a loop.

It's a double action revolver, not a double action semi auto. Release the trigger all the way. Don't feel for clicks and clacks, just release the trigger all the way. You have to do this with all double action revolvers as far as my experience with Smiths, Rugers and Taurus's go.

Dry fire practice alot. If you simply can't get over this, switch to a different gun.

Thanks ASRuger, my others, two S&W, actually don't do this but I'll still work on it and take your advice.

Practice pratice practice. The "problem" with the LCR can occur with any double action revolver. The only difference is the forward movement of the trigger as it resets is not as smooth. If you ride the trigger forward there are a couple spots that feel like you have hit the front wall of the trigger pull. You need to stop thinking about the trigger and don't ride it forward. I fire and then just let my finger relax. The trigger does the rest. No problems with reset and my trigger never leaves the trigger. This is a close quarters defense gun you should not be thinking about anything other than point and shoot.

Okay now I understand ,and with my other 2 revolvers I just can't feel anything but butter smooth until a single click, I can make them mess up but boy it's lot harder to do. I'll have to work through this with dry fire or just carry one of the others. Appreciate your time greatly and setting me straight.
