Does the SR40c have standard rifleing?

I have the nine & am so impressed that I'm ordering the forty. I want to shoot lead out of it like I do the nine. I hope someday they make a SR45c. Thanks for any info-Dave

Hi, Dave.

I own the SR40 and have shot 200 rounds of 155 Grain Lead Semi-Wad-Cutter bullets through the gun without a malfunction. I purchased the bullets through bulletsdirect.com. I loaded them over 5.0 Grains of Hodgdon's Universal Clays powder, in mixed once-fired brass, with a COL of 1.130", using Winchester small pistol primers.

I cleaned the gun last night and found significant leading in the barrel. However, after a couple of applications of Hopp's #9 and a couple of minutes of scrubbing with a brass brush, the barrel was clean. I did not notice any damage to the rifling. It is my understanding that the barrel has traditional rifling, not polygonal. Hope this helps.

That is what I was hoping to hear. I have been loading the nines with W231 & using Lasercast 115 grn. LRN with no leading. Thank's again-Dave

All Ruger handguns have "conventional" rifling and are perfectly fine to shoot lead bullets.

Glock, H&K and some Kahr pistols use polygonal rifling and are not considered suitable for lead bullets but that doesn't apply to any Ruger.

I ordered the SR40c when I got off work yesterday afternoon. I've been using Lasercast bullets with good results & loaded some Darda's over the weekend in 9mm plus I have some Missouri cast ready to go for this weekend. I'll see how they do as far as leading goes. Just curious, has Ruger even cosidered a SR45(c) ? Or is the P345 holding that slot? Thank's for all the reply's-Dave
