Do you remember this firearm?

The firearm I am interested in knowing about is a Ruger .44 Magnum. It is stainless steel with a longer barrel...I am not sure, maybe 7.5, but perhaps longer. I think it was a Blackhawk.

This firearm was sold as a package deal, including: a red dot scope, leather shoulder holster, and I think a case.

The package was a special order and I think it was available sometime during the 1980s. I think the adds for it may have appeared in the NRA magazine.

A friend of mine, now deceased, had such a firearm. He had been living out of state. I would be interested in any details that someone might know about this particular "package deal".

Maybe one of you own one, or perhaps you can recall the advertisement for it. I would really like to see a scan of the add if anyone comes across it.

Thanks,

Bill

I seem to remember a silhouette model, with a 10 1/2" barrel, that, I think, came in a similar package, but can't give any other info on it.

I believe the Hunter Package came out around 1986. The sihouette model was for the IHMSA.

Did the gun look like this?

That's a Hunter model, with the Bisley grip and hammer. No scope, obviously.

Thanks. I always liked the way the grips from the knife sorta matched those on the gun.

The knife is a custom made Ranger RD-7, btw. I had him make me one with a hollow ground, uncoated blade. That sucker is 1/4" wide at the spine, and the 7" measurement is just the sharpened part...

It could have been a Super Blackhawk hunter...big, stainless, single action...I just recall it was sold in a package with the red dot scope and the sholder holster.

Nice gun Sammy.

Ruger had a stainless Redhawk package in cahoots with Aimpoint. It had a 7.5" barrel, Pachmayer grips with a red dot on them, an aimpoint mounted on it, and a leather holster with one or both of their names on it I believe.

Thanks, Rum....I think that is it. I wish I could find the old magazine add for that package.

There is an auction in Rock Island IL at the end of the month, and my brother told me they have one listed in their ad. It,s under rockislandauction.com. There is a ton of guns listed, and its a 2 or 3 day event
