The America you remember is different from the one your parents remember and different from the one their parents remembered.
While I do admit things seem pretty bad, literally every generation has thought the new generation was useless / hopeless.
Yes it’s changing, but there is still hope.

As my daughter is in 9th grade, I see and talk to her and her friends.
Now granted it’s a small sample size, but I don’t think the teenagers today are as hopeless as everyone thinks they are.
Sure they have terrible taste in music. But the rest of the outlook on the future still looks bright.
Just because Generation Z might have a different outlook on the future, doesn’t necessarily mean it’s bad. And if their views don’t align with “tradition” does that automatically mean they are wrong?

Lenin once said, "First attack their history". Isn't that what is happening in the US today? They teach schoolchildren that our ancestors were racist scum. What better way to discourage them from having children, or at least White children?

Whoa, whoa, whoa. I was commenting on how quickly things are changing, not about how bad anyone thinks it is today. My post was referring to things like electronics, social media, kids not playing outdoors, all the Moms now work, etc., etc. This was not intended to be political or a diatribe about today's youth.

It is too true. An old one I still laugh at because it is funny and also you wonder about what types are growing up now:
I am in agreement about the not learning about anything that doesn't have digital in the name and a remote. I am glad that my Niece and Nephews still love getting out and just enjoying the beauty of nature.

Hard to answer without a definition of what "our" generation is. There's good people here in their 20's and people here that are way off base in their 80's. We have everything else in between here.our generation will be the last that remembers traditional America? Kinda scary isn't it?

Sorry to double post ... I have an 8th grader that listens to and plays '70's and '80's music, a 10th grader that is not that far off base and understands traditional family, and two in college that are generally okay ... we all wonder a little. The difference is we don't trust the school system to raise our kids.
Tradition says we make stupid rules about what kind of hat you wear after Labor Day ... a "holiday" made up by union sucking commies. Nope. Tradiation says it's okay to start one topic a month making fun of others' appearance. Nope. Stay in your lane on the stuff that does not matter. OP asked a bad question.

I’m sitting here watching an old James Bond movie and thinking about this thread.
My two dogs look very similar to each other. When people first see them they always ask if they are brother and sister.

I've said it on a different thread here and will say it again...maybe in a different way... just because the folks you watch on TV are telling you, "things are so bad they've never been this bad before"... does not make it true. I personally have had and am having a great life and I actually don't know anyone who isn't doing well or at least okay. We are a long ways away from what I consider bad.... how many of us here have had to stand in line for two hours to buy a loaf of bread or walk three miles to get a bucket of water... the list could go on... So, your stock investments went down .....price of gas has gone up and is about up to half of what you would pay in other parts of the world and now it will be costly to travel to that vacation rental... go look in your garage or attic and realize that most of the world can't even comprehend the junk we buy and either never use or throw away.
A thread about changes means a thread about pattern recognition, to me anyway. I just want to observe these patterns and speculate on where they are taking us. A truth seeker's objective is not happiness because happiness has no bearing on the truth.
You stated in your OP that it's Kinda scary. Sorry if I made it too scary. Personally, I don't want happiness that skews my perspective on reality.

Public schools, universities and teevee do the exact opposite. Where would a young person learn work ethic if their parents were neglectful? No work ethic, no wealth. How often does teevee promote work ethic?

As a late Boomer, I see this is so true. We have more "stuff" we consider as old junk, while many is dozens of countries around the world consider our " junk" as something they can really use.
We don't really know how rich we are. That's about things.
As far as knowledge, belief systems, understanding history, values, and viewpoints, well today that's another subject. I see much divergence from the Boomer generation and Gen X and Gen Z.
As far as work ethic, values, outlook on society, some Gen Z have the ideas. They come from rural, farms and ranches and understand and know HOW to work.

The great thing about the United States of America, we can all share our viewpoint, and I will defend that to my last breath.
Comparing, Chocolate Chip Cookies, an Oatmeal cookie, and a pile of Sh&t, is that everyone has a preferred flavor. I happen to like Oatmeal Raisin.
We need just be aware that some cookie makers are serving up a pile of CRAP, for money and/or power. This happens everyday.
And unfortunately, the plebians follow that.
We need to educate our young people, on principles of free democracy, history of totalitarian regimes, and the free will of citizens, and God given rights.
Too many citizens of this Republic have fought, sacrificed and died for this true right.
It did not turn out well in Stalinists Russia, the Warsaw Pact nations, and The Soviet Union.
I have seen way too many sides of oppressed regimes in many countries worldwide. It's not pretty.
We MUST educate and inform our younger generations to this danger.
Too damn many people believe the media hype. It has to stop.
If everyone was in a union, there would be no law of supply and demand, A brain surgeon might earn the same pay as a parking lot attendant. And if everyone made $100 an hour, what would a dozen eggs cost? Yes, it's Marxism.
I was able to comfortably retire after 40 years of hard work providing buildings for pencilnecks to work in and laboratories where they cracked the Genetic Code and take things that can end Mankind and screw with them thanks to my Skilled Trade Union.
