Yes and that's why I replied the way I did in post #4.

I also have experience/encounters with mountain lions.

I also review video almost every day as part of my profession and know cameras, especially external/static home security cams folks buy off of Amazon or in the local big box stores have varied resolution depending on the light conditions.

That's too true.... I've installed over the last couple of years a lot 'cheap' security cameras.... have 16 at my house and 54 at my church and they vary in how good the resolution is... the worse are the 180 degree ones at night.... the dome lens reflects the infrared light back on the lens.... totally useless.

A number of us saw a pure black one up close here in SE Iowa. I almost hit it with my patrol vehicle.
