Lighten up Francis !No, I do NOT carry when in my Castle (home). Hell I do not even carry my damn cell phone. The internet, gun forums, YOUTUBE video's and other crap have turned the gun world into a over the Top bunch of nonsense. Nothing but a false propaganda dumb crap way to make money. No need for a Beretta combat shotgun for example for home defense. No need for a High capacity magazine, multiple magazines,big bore handguns, and on and on. It is called marketing. SELL, SELL!

I carried a knife all thru school. Some thought it cool, or usrful, a few were terrified without i even opened it yet, i wondered how they got that way. Some were only scared, or amazed, that they barely saw me use it and only noticed it as it was being put away. I did have a rep; "ya wanta borry a SHARP one, ask fir HIS and they point to me. Cut yerself with one, they laugh and say glad ya dint borry HIS? Yada lost a finger!
Many years ago my daughter came up from Florida and wanted to see NYC & Empire state building. The day she called to let me know she was coming there had been a knife attack on the observation deck of the Empire state building. A month later when we went to NYC I completely forgot I was carrying my large folding knife I used for work clipped to my jeans pocket. I remembered I had it when we were in line to go through the metal detector. We passed right through with no problem.
I took the pistol grip, and picatinny rail, off of my M4, and put on a standard stock. It works well as a brush gun for hunting. I'm assuming it is equally as effective for home defense, but not much beats the double barrel for visual impression to anyone on the wrong end.
Suggesting that my dogs are lesser species is a stretch. While they accept me in their pack, if they suggest you're not welcome, it's in your best interest to pay attention.
I always carry in my home. Always in arms reach if not on my person.
Similar here, yet 2 murders within blocks in a "no one locks their doors" neighborhood, along with late night break ins- and I too have old transport in the driveway. SO: I keep a wooden box by my living room couch ( I am usually up until 4am due to my work) with an LCP loaded with defensive ammo. But wait, there is more! The ladies won't use the gun, though they say they will. So, things like pepper spray in holsters hanging by entrances, as well as bats- both of which they WILL use - are also there. As for packing in my yard or home: Since 2015 - go figure- during certain times I do carry.
