Do you carry while in your home?

Help Support Ruger Forum:

Not exactly carry- unless there is some sort of violence build-up. Instead, one in a box by my chair in the living room, same in my den/office, and something more special in the bedroom- plus additional non firearm stuff.

In my opinion, having spent a number of years in law enforcement, and public education, a person who considers his home a safe haven, not only puts his life in danger, but more so his family members' lives. One year just a couple of miles from my home, an elderly couple in a nice neighborhood, had their throats cut for two paper dollars by three men. I could give more examples of people "safely" in their homes, however, you should get the idea. You live in a safe home, until it is not safe. Be mindful of your surroundings at all times.

I live in a motorhome and travel a lit. And while I'm driving I have the gun belt around my waist. I also carry when In stores or at gas stations. When lounging in the motorhome it is either on or very close by. When sleeping I put it just far away that I have to sit up, being I have very vivid dreams and I do not want to be able to get my hands on it/them in my sleep.

When I go to other people's houses to stay I will at times take and leave it in the guest bedroom but once I'm ready to head out the door it is back on.

If I'm just visiting folks it stays on the whole time. If they do not like it I leave and go elsewhere.

If I'm going into a government building I lock them up until I get back to the motorhome and emidiately put it back on.

" customer service people couldn't understand why I would even carry a pocket knife."

I hate to bust the sheeples bubble but I've gotten past a metal detector twice while carrying.... the security 'they' put in places are just to make us feel safe.

I once had a state trooper try to call me out for carrying two knives... a Swiss army and a Gerber tool.... I had to tell him the Gerber was for my work and everyone should carry a Swiss Army knife.
Many years ago my daughter came up from Florida and wanted to see NYC & Empire state building. The day she called to let me know she was coming there had been a knife attack on the observation deck of the Empire state building. A month later when we went to NYC I completely forgot I was carrying my large folding knife I used for work clipped to my jeans pocket. I remembered I had it when we were in line to go through the metal detector. We passed right through with no problem.

Often times when I come home I forget to take my carry gun off so yeah, I frequently have a gun on me. Just works out that way.

If I don't have one on me, there is always one in reach. I don't need to carry it room, to room. Each room has one.

My home defense gun is a Benelli M4. No one "convinced" me to purchase the M4. It fit a variety of needs, the main one is that I am not crazy about pump shotguns and my wife has ZERO experience with them. Her skeet gun is a semi auto, so it makes sense to keep it simple.

We live in a very safe neighborhood.

We have a dog.

We also have fire extinguishers in multiple areas of the home.
I took the pistol grip, and picatinny rail, off of my M4, and put on a standard stock. It works well as a brush gun for hunting. I'm assuming it is equally as effective for home defense, but not much beats the double barrel for visual impression to anyone on the wrong end.

I don't believe in subjugating a lesser species. Eating is fine. Forced servitude is wrong.
Suggesting that my dogs are lesser species is a stretch. While they accept me in their pack, if they suggest you're not welcome, it's in your best interest to pay attention.

Don't get all butt hurt. Dog, gorillas, and chipmunks are all lesser animals.

BTW, if your dogs accepted you into "their pack" that means that you're the beta. LOL.

Good bye.

Yes, I carry in my home and outside. Lightweight .38 snubby in my waistband. I still remember the 2 guys who broke into the CT home in a "safe" neighborhood. They tied the man up, raped his daughters and wife, then burned the women alive while trying to flee the cops.

If that makes me paranoid, then so be it.
