After the 38s I had plans to do a run of 45 Colts but the little press was indexing a little rough so I began to remove parts till I found the problem. The picture tells the tale. I went all the way to the bottom.

Arizona..........that's not the hillbilly way. :lol:

Did you find the problem? Mine indexes roughly also and I have taken it apart and cleaned it but didn't really fix the problem.

Yes I did. Headed out to work now so I'll get back to you after while.

Where the Index Lever Assembly bolts to the frame casting a rough spot had developed. I was in a hurry & didn't [but should have] look for the cause. Once the rough spot was smoothed the indexing rough spot left.

You can see the frame, pivot bushing indexer, return spring [under the pivot], the bolt & index lever assembly in this picture. This little press has lots of miles & all the plastic needs replaced.

fatman pay attention to all around the pivot bushing indexer & index lever assembly. The lever its self could have a place on it where it contacts the shell holder. If so a fine file or stone will remove the burr. I wanted my problem to be on the top end so I wouldn't have to tear the press to the bottom.

For smoothness a touch of lube on this ball before installing the shell holder also helps.
