Could someone please tell me the difference between the...Ruger Super Redhawk (Alaskan) 44 magnum & TALO Exclusive 2.75 Inch Ruger Redhawk 44 Magnum
I really want to buy one. Cant find the cylinder length on either & which would you choose & why?
Happy New Year...

I have a Alaskan 44Mag and a 4.2 Redhawk. The Cylinders are the same. I really like both, but the Alaskan has a better action in my opinion. Although I really wish they used the detachable front sight. Instead of the pin on front sight. Both of mine are really great guns. I would choose the Alaskan over the TALO because the Alaskan has a stronger frame.

Thanks for your input...I do like the one piece frame of the Alaskan & the grip for better comfort...But that Kodiak Redhawk is just so damn pretty & just as durable...Well for my purpose..

Redhawk and Super Redhawk use the same cylinders. I mean right down to the same part number.

There is no difference in strength between the two guns.

Thanks...i was hoping to hear that...Just don't know why Ruger wouldn't say when i called them..

They won't say a lot due to liability issues. Lawyers have made companies extremely cautious. But,, as noted,, even the same part number,,,!

Yeah, Ruger doesn't make any declarations with regards to strength, relative or otherwise. They are very liability-conscious.

Thanks for all the replies...
If you were to pick one of the 2 which one would you go with..
I know its my choice, but....
Kinda have my mind made up.

For me that's easy. Ruger Alaskan. Everyday and twice on Sunday!!! At some point I'll probably buy another. Still have a 454 and a 480. I like them!!! I've had the short Redhawk. That one didn't fit my hand well, the grip is curved like a round butt. I've still got a 4.2" Redhawk.

What is the deal about strength? Both will handle all SAAMI loads you good possibly put into them in a lifetime.... As well as the SBH.... All are built like 'tanks' ... so to speak. I'd go with the RedHawk myself if I was looking for a Ruger DA for the given cartridge. Grips are a matter of preference and can be easily changed out.

The Super Red is much more shooter friendly than the Red with it's Hogue Tamer grip.

I have not shot either, but do have Hogue's on my Gp 100 & SP 101 both in 357..i do like them..
I just love the look of that Redhawk..

Got my Kodiak Redhawk today..fits my hand like a glove..
it's beast..
I love the round butt wood grips..Not going to be a heavy use range gun.
My lil mini tank. :P
