for a 96/44. i've been looking high and low for a slip on but just have not found one. i've tried the pach and limb savers and they just don't fit and i really don't want to cut the stock so i can mount a permanent one...anyone know of one out there?

Are you looking for a pad to simply lengthen the stock, or are you looking for a pad to soften the recoil?

If it's just to increase the LOP, this will do the job:

Don't be fooled by them calling it a recoil pad, though.... it's harder than a woman's heart.

I bought a 96 last year and someone had installed a recoil pad on it. The length of pull wasn't reduced, it may have ended up a touch longer, because whoever did it removed just the top of the curve on the top & bottom of the stock. They left in the "tab" of the old plastic buttplate and screw in the top of the stock, blended it into the Limbsaver. They also matched the squared off stock and carried the lines through the pad.

Done right it looks very good and you don't lose anything.

I bought a factory 96 stock to replace it only because I wanted the original look. I use the Masen "pad" and it's hard as a rock, but it does add LOP and that's something my 38" long arms need.

i have looked at those and i am not crazy about the LOP increase but more importantly i am looking for a softer recoil....

It will have to be a custom job. I have thought about having one put on ...but over time my shoulder has gotten used to the two curved Ruger butt plates that I have. :D

i got i gunsmith up the street so i might give him a shout......or find a down load of 2400. i only use the gun for fun so i don't need any power loads.

That's the beauty of the 96/44. You can shoot anything from powder-puff loads to Boar-killing heavy hitters. :D
