Ruger LC 45 carbine buffer pad

Does anyone have an aftermarket source for the buffer pad? MCarbo has one for the PC which is smaller and thinner than the LC. Looking to find one of a different design that retains the c clip better.

I wish. That said, give a Ruger a call - not an email - and they'll send you a complete recoil assy. no charge. Your other option is to take your existing clip to a decent well stocked hardware store - not Lowes or other big box. These clips are fairly standard so you should be able to find a duplicate spare clip. That said, this design of recoil assy. could have been made better by Ruger. They cheaped out on it.

Thank you for the reply. Very 1st disassembly the clip came off and forced the rod to the back and I had to pry the pad out which stretched the hole that holds the plastic bushing. A spare clip is a great idea, thanks and I'll give Ruger a call.
I like MCarbo's PC design which eliminates the bushing and will keep looking around for something better than stock.

This is the spare assy. Ruger CS sent me last year. I keep it in the original box.

PS: The assy. can be a little difficult to pull out of the receiver the first few times, it gets easier after several iterations. I'd suggest you repeatedly remove and reinstall it without bothering to fully reassemble the bolt/rifle - a break-in exercise, if you will.

Thanks for the advice and I will certainly exercise it more. Just got off the phone with Ruger and a n/c replacement is on the way. The entire assembly runs $38.00 +s/h & tax.
It's kind of odd that they can send you an entire buffer assembly and not just the pad. If you want just the pad you have to send the gun in for what they call a "factory fit". They couldn't explain why that is, it is just in the script.

Likely has to do with a couple critical dimensions: The OAL of the Guide Rod, and the distance from the clip channel to the rear tip of the rod. When the assy. is installed it's held in place by the spring in a shallow recess in the rear of the receiver. To pull out (or install) the assy. the rod needs to move toward the muzzle a few thousands by overcoming the spring tension.

Ok, thanks. Not sure any of that has to do anything with the "factory fit" for a piece of rubber/syn at the end of the rod but I'll keep that in mind down the road.
