COnversion 9 to 40

I tried to get an answer to that question about a month ago. Still waiting for some expertise. I suspect the answer is "no way", as I've seen references to parts needing to be fitted by Ruger (barrel at least). One guy was going to see if the slides would interchange but hasn't responded back that I know of.

I think the reason no one replied,, is because no one here has tried it.
We'd have to ask,,,,,,,,,,, "Why?"
If you want a SR40c,, sell one & buy the other. Much cheaper. Plus,, if there are parts needed,, then the expense (if you could get the parts) would be much higher than just getting the correct model you want.
Just commenting here.

Why convert.....no benefit.....9mm with 147gr bullets is just as effect as a 40...with less recoil for quicker follow up shoots.....it has been proven in FBI testing...use the heavyest bullet for caliber and its all pretty much as wash.....in guns designed for defensive purposess at least.......if your really concerned get a 1911 in 45 or 10mm or carry a 4'' revolver in .357 or .44 mag...9mm is a good caliber just stay away from light bullets.....go with 124+p or 147's ...I carry either Gold Dots or HST's...if you really want a .40 sell the 9mm and buy one....just sayin

Is it possible to convert a SR9c to a SR40c?

Two ways to do it. Maybe.

1) Usually, at least in other guns that come in multiple calibers for the platform (Glocks in either .357Sig or .40S&W as well as 9mm or Sigs that come in various calibers like the P239 available in 9mm, .357Sig or .40S&W), you can go down but not up, if someone like Barsto or Lone Wolf makes a conversion barrel. You can take a gun that was originally chambered in .357Sig or .40S&W and get a replacement 9mm barrel, but not the other way. The issue is the size of the hole in the end of the slide. On an original 9mm slide the hole is smaller than on a .357Sig or .40S&W slide, so the bigger barrel won't fit. The 9mm replacement barrels for the .357Sig/.40S&W guns are basically just .357Sig/.40S&W barrel blanks that have the bore and chamber reamed for 9mm rather than the .357Sig/.40S&W, so they fit the slide hole just fine. Then it's just a matter of magazines.

So, going up in caliber - no. Going down, technically yes if someone is making aftermarket barrels.

2) Assuming the frames are identical, the other way, at least hypothetically, would be to get a second slide, barrel and mags. Finding them without going to the factory. Difficult.
