I've noticed the Volquartsen V-Comp Compensator and am curious if it has any effect on shooting other than adding weight to the front end. It looks cool but for the price, cool isn't enough.

I have one on my bull barrel mark ii and I'm not sure how much it helps compensation wise, but it does help balance the pistol if you have a red dot or scope mounted on it. I've never done a back to back comparison with or without the v-comp. I would go for the stainless one as I hear the blued ones are really hard to keep clean. I also think it cleans up the look of the front of the gun with no front sight (not sure the sightless ones are still available).

If you're gonna go with a comp, you need to get one that works properly. I've been working on making comps since 1993 and have found that if the ports are not positioned correctly, the comp is useless. Anytime a comp has ports that circle the periphery of the comp, the ports work against one another and the comp is useless. We need to vent whatever gasses are present from the .22 rimfire hi-vel cartridge in a beneficial direction to be effective. That means they need to point up and 45-degrees to each side of top dead center. Like the pic below:
