just curious how much is actually picked up by the scholarship?
is it just books and class?

what about school supplies, computers, room and board, and meals?

They’re all different.

Many are contingent on grades or making an athletic team.

Scholarships can have as many variations as health insurance.

ok. had a girl who i taught at my range get a shooting scholarship to UNC. was wondering how much of it will be picked up . no way of knowing. i see. thanks.
btw...she got straight a's and took the mo state championship in her class.

And students are allowed to receive more than one scholarship. They can also receive grants on top of scholarships.

My granddaughter will be attending a Christian university in the fall. She received a "partial" scholarship
for soccer, and a "partial" scholarship for academics. Those two together will cover just over half of the
tuition, and nothing for room and board. The cost of a college education today is mind-boggling.

Just this past Spring, one of my daughters graduated from the University of Alabama ("Roll Tide") with her BS in Finance and Economics. She did it in 3 years.....yes, she is a "brain". I've joked for years that when I was in school, whenever someone like her would pass us in the hallways, they got smacked in the back of the head for messing up "the curve" for the rest of us..
Anyway, with all them smarts, she had lots of places to choose from. So, for her Masters, she has chosen a nice little college in the NE part of the Country that has not shown itself to be too "woke"....yet. I guess they wanted her pretty bad, because she got the proverbial "full ride". Tuition, books, food plan, housing (in her very own apartment), campus parking pass....all the bells and whistles. They also gave her a (paying) job in the field of her studies along with an $800.00 a month stipend. All this on just her academics.....
Don't like her being 2000 miles away, but for what she's getting I ain't gonna gripe too bad. 8)

Mt niece got a full ride to Oregon on a track scholarship (She held national records in several intermediate length runs).

I got $500 per semester as an undergrad from a Marine Biology Institure. I got $1000 as a study grant for my thesis in grad school.

See, it varies. Most PhD students get paid to teach=many MS students get some stipends for teaching labs.

As far as I know, it all depends on the specific university. Everything can change here depending on whether the university is ready to pay for your lunches and accommodation and whether you study on a budget or contract. At least I know that my sister is studying in asa florida, and she has all this included in the cost of the scholarship. So here you have to find out for yourself about those universities to which you send your application forms. I hope that you will be able to get it for free, good luck.

The school where she is getting the scholarship can/will tell her exactly what the scholarship covers. Different scholarships cover different things.

I just heard what a A BIG TIME football player at a major university on a "full ride" will get. Tuition, books, room, board, health coverage and a myriad of other things. Basically all they will have to pay is their "pocket money" expenses (gas for their car, dining/frolicing/etc. nights out. And don't get me started on paying these college stars.

It all depends on what university and what the scholarship is for.
I know some of the spoiled brats that play basketball for the UofA get housing , meals , walk around money ( with I believe is illegal ) and a vehicle.
Not to mention a get out of jail card for all the crimes they commit , as long as they are good ball players.

There are so many out there for the taking that it could be a full time job just finding the free money. My son got $500 per year from our small town coop/phone company. All he had to do was fill out the paperwork each fall. Our local chapter of Oregon Hunters Association also gave out money. All that was required was a short essay on anything to do with wildlife. There are so many it is probably overwhelming too most students. My sister (a teacher) would find them for my nephews, then tell them that if they were to lazy to apply for them, that she would just withhold that amount from them next term when they asked for $'s.

The Sad part is many scholarships go unawarded, due to not being applied for. There's an excellent book out encouraging students not to go into debt (school loans) called Debt-Free Degree. I highly recommend it.

My daughter got a bunch of little scholarships. 1k here, 1.5 K there, etc, usually about 3-5 k per term. You just have to dig around. many are just purely apply and receive. There are also little bumps like that just for grades. 4.0 2k, 3.5 1.5k , etc...

There are scholarships for just about everything, including kids that wear glasses and alien students. You just need to look and investigate. A lot of the HS Councilors are busy doing nothing. Do not rely on them to take care of your student.

Don't count on college counselors to be any better. College counselors almost cost my daughter her chance to get into her chosen program initially. Then they laid out a plan that would take 2.5 years longer to complete at a mere 25k more than needed.

There used to be a book (might be an e-book now) that was about 3 inches thick with literally thousands of scholarships that a person could apply for. Not all were applicable for everyone. Some were obscure (Redhead who's last name is ...) And most were small scholarships. But as the saying goes, little by little it all adds up. I know of one grandfather whose granddaughter applied for a ton of small ones and pretty much had her college paid for.

I had a scholarship offered to me 47 years ago and the last step was a physical. I was sick the day that it was scheduled and my parents for some reason did not follow up on another one.... I'm reasonably sure if I had gone to that physical I would not be here today and would have died in some foreign land.

A thing to watch for; Many schools will give a grant that covers a portion, like half, of the tuition etc. However, if the student also applies for other scholarships and receives them the schools can reduce the amount of their grant by the amount of the scholarship resulting in no net gain. At least that is whet occurred with our son at a College in the Northwest back in the mid 1990's. He received a nice grant based on academics and need, ten applied for some small local scholarships to help out. The school proceeded to deduct the scholarship amounts from their grant when processing and we still needed to come up with the difference. The next year he did not bother to renew the scholarships.

RCA, stated it pretty well. there are scholarships of all kinds and sizes out there. I helped my daughter with "searches" for months her junior/senior high school year looking for and applying for grants and scholarships. When it was all said and done with her undergrad years she had qualified and received over 50 different grants or scholarships. it took a lot of time but they covered 1000's of the costs.

Most schools and universities have everything they need to provide a complete education for their students. I believe that every school should provide students with the freedom to use computers as well as the library. However, some schools may ask you to buy books and extra supplies, which frustrates the student. Fortunately, I had no such experience because https://iunajaf.edu.iq/en/ provided everything I needed to study. In addition to the cherished diploma of graduation from the university, studying at the institute gave me a lot of practical knowledge necessary in everyday life.

Rifle is not considered a head-count sport such as football and basketball. Each NCAA Division I team is limited to 3.6 total scholarships per rifle team. Most teams carry 10 or more shooters. Coaches like to start with academic money and then add partial shooting money on top. I suspect top shooters are fully covered but most shooters can expect 25-50% from shooting alone.

My daughter is a career counselor “Coach” for a major university system. In this day an time, if your college material, there is no reason not to graduate high school with an Associate degree. And this is paid for by your school system. Now, college tuition has been cut bu basically 1/2. College does not have to be as expensive as people make it to be. I know, I pd for my daughters degree

My older Son got a 'full ride' scholastic scholarship but that didn't cover stuff like lab fees, books, and only part of room and board. His 'internship' was out of pocket. Although he got paid, it cost more for him to be there than the pay covered.
Younger Son had a full scholarship that covered everything except the cost of getting there. This was funded by some sort of program for 'handicapped' students and required a specific major intended to further handicapped people. His 'internship' cost me a year's pay and 4 months in Colorado.
Daughter kept jumping around from one major to another and each jump ended up costing her time and $$. Some of the money handouts require a buy back if you fail to follow through(and are honest). Flip side is: she's got education and job experience in teaching, medical lab, and law enforcement management.

It all depends on how high your score is. Watch your grades, and you will have a good scholarship.
