Degrees show you can learn, and you can stick with something long enough to accomplish something.

Yes degrees show that you have perseverance and that you can memorize what you are told. But tuition is not the only cost. The extra baggage is the Marxist indoctrination.
Students should not only have the qualities of perseverance and memory, they should also be capable of critical thinking and that is one area where College educations are lacking.
If you taught students both Marxism and critical thinking, the latter would cancel out the former so there would be no reason to indoctrinate students.

I have told all my kids since they were little not to just accept anything anyone tells them. To question not only what they are told but why that person might be telling them that. We have discussions about things. I know they think I'm just an old curmudgeon but I believe as they grow older they will become more aware there are reasons for that.

Unfortunately even though trades can be brutal. It is a necessary evil. Not everyone can work in a cubical gossiping at the water tank about the hot secretary. Worked 4 seasons for the forest service, then trained to drive truck. Been doing that for 35 plus years. And my body is messed up. Unfortunately! Someone has to do it. If the cost wasn't so high more might be willing to go to school. Revolving circle of necessity On all fronts.
