Bought a Model P in .38WCF last year, special order, bought it sight unseen.. 1st Cimarron, I love it..
Only 1 issue. As per my usual routine for a brand new gun, I wanted to disassemble/clean before using... In the box, it was wrapped in a plastic bag, soaked/dripping in oil... No issue there, it definitely didn't rust between Italy and CT.....
When I began disassembly, every screw, was way less than finger tight. I took the entire gun apart with just a driver bit, no handle. Most screws were loose, not even snug, 2 I didn't even need the driver bit. Kind of scary. Once apart, so much oil, I thought I was draining a transmission.... Cleaned (more metal shavings than I would like to see in a new piece)/lubed properly, and reassembled, it runs great. Smooth and accurate.
My assumption is, it was assembled loose, and the shift bell rung, next shift just packed it up and shipped it out, never checking torque....
Metal work, and wood work are exceptional. Extremely well made in my opinion, just no quality control on the assembly of this particular one. I'd buy another if the need (want) arises....
