Cheaper Than Dirt?

Just got a new sale catalog. The only dirt that they are cheaper than is Gold Dust. Prices are terrible. In the trash this catalog goes.

I quit buying anything from them when they tried to get $75 each for beat up Colt AR mags during the last panic. They also where charging $50 a box for .380 ammo back when it dried up. Price gougers!

They were also charging $35 for a box of .22 ammo 50 rds.
I will never use them.

Since they are in my area I've been there a few times. They always had some cool "junk" at pretty decent prices. But, to add to the listed quote......they got outed for price gouging during "the big scare".....so not only did I stop going, I stopped recommending them to others. There is a recently opened gun shop on the far east side of Fort Worth which is appropriately named "Fort Worth Gun". Apparently they tried passing that store off as "just another gun shop" but were again busted when it was discovered that CTD actually owned it. Yeah, they could been one of the big dogs on the porch had they not resorted to price gouging and flat out deception. I don't know many folks that do any business with them any more. :!:

I used to get their catalog but never bought anything from them. If I found anything in their catalog I just found somewhere else to buy it.

I can't stand someone who seeks to profit from the misfortune of others.
That's exactly why CTD went onto my "ceased to exist" list...meaning that I wouldn't buy anything from them today no matter how cheap they was offering it.

Hi,

I bought a few things from them many years ago, long before "the big scare" days, and had no complaints. I have no complaints about their prices today, either. I look at them, shrug, then just don't buy from them, that's all. I learned these two Latin words a long time ago, "Caveat emptor" which we all know in English as "Let the buyer beware." They've helped me a lot over the years. When shopping in today's world, two English words can be added to the drill: "Due diligence." Or "Do your homework" as I learned the concept before this term became popular. In today's market, search engines are a great resource when it comes to homework time!

If CTD wants to ask outrageous prices, fine. If a person is willing to pay them, fine. Apparently enough are, or else the company would be defunct. If you're a person not willing to pay them, that's fine, too. There are plenty of other places around to take your money. Nobody's holding a gun to your head to patronize them (or anyone else, for that matter.) Why waste the energy bellyachin' about them?

Not the prices I mind Rick; I just won't pay it. But during the worst of the last "run" it was the intent of CTD that bothered me - their scalper's prices were more than making a profit, it was pure greed at the expense of the buyer. They don't give a rat's --- about their customers; only how much they can squeeze out of them; especially when times are hard

I ordered from CTD before the panic buying a few times. I have only done so once since, and the product I ordered was 2/3 the price I could find it elsewhere. There is a price point at which I will shop from them; unfortunately for them, I believe it may be below their cost on the merchandise.

Their prices on items are just like any other large volume distributor; cheaper on some things and higher on some others. As far as quality of products, they sell name brand as well as cheaper products. Right now I have five 3-pks of Ruger 45acp moon clips in my shopping cart for $11.95 ea. with shipping for these five 3-pks of 7.95. That makes the cost more then 50cents per clip cheaper then from Ruger. Do your research and buyer beware.
