Charger "Take Down"

I picked one up last week, neat little 10/22 version. I really like the "Green Mountain" stock. It'll get it's first trip to the range this weekend, along with the new SR1911 CMDR I bought at the same time. Both look like quality Ruger products.

Same thought I had.... still can't quite figure out the reasoning for a 10/22 take down... now the Charger?

Now that I've 'thought' about it... here is the only practical reason I can see for either..... easy change out of barrel types and even 'receivers' with different trigger groups.... putting aside the ability to break all kinds of silly gun laws.... this might be practical if Ruger would offer just the front part of take downs as an easy (non FFL) purchase item.

Since the parts are all interchangeable, if you put a Charger barrel on a receiver that came from a 10/22 RIFLE, you are in posession of a short-barreled rifle without the proper paperwork. Technically, a big ol' federal no-no.

I understand that, just wanting to know what the "whole new can of worms" is.

It isn't a problem with the 10/22 and the original charger. No problem with a stocked TC receiver and pistol barrels. No problem with AR15 pistol uppers and rifle lowers.

People are not running out and making unregistered SBR just because they interchange, so I figured that "whole new can of worms" meant something else.

It would make the parts "easily interchangeable" rather having to use an allen wrench to change the barrel.

The Take Down 10/22 is perfect for folks with limited storage space.
It fits into a small safe, so a full size stand up safe is not needed.
