CenturyLink Internet Users

Anyone out there use CenturyLink Internet? Do you rent their modem or use your own? I use my own CenturyLink C1000a modem/router. It is an older model and starting to slow down and frequently loses Internet connection. All my wiring and jacks were inspected and tested out ok. Any recommendations for a good dependable modem/router combo? Is there any advantage in renting one from them?

nope. Routers are cheap and plentiful.

C Link may have specific types of routers they use or prefer BUT a new style DOCs 3.0 will be way faster and far more reliable than probably what you have now

No advantage to rent as they are cheap enough to buy

I have C-Link here in Phoenix. For simplicity, I bought their router. I have 5 laptops, 4 surveillance cameras, a smart TV, Direct TV with Genie and a BluRay player hooked up ....... no problems in a year and a half.

Oh and two iPhones.

Sounds like you have a router that is working well for you. What is the brand name and model number? It might be what I am looking for.

Anyone out there use CenturyLink Internet?

I did, for a while. Then they went into having to talk with me every year
to receive a "good" price. What they are actually doing is negotiating a
"new" contract (I had decades with them) every year, so they can charge
you more if you try to cancel (MORE than difficult to do).

While I was using their equipment (I bought it in place of renting), I found
that if you unplug the power cable each week, let it sit for at least a minute,
and then plug it back in, I had FAR fewer problems with the modem.

Almost a P.S. my cost varied from a low of $29.95/mo to a high of $50/mo.
This was for . . . just . . . internet. Unlimited data.

I'm currently working with the PUC to find out what, if anything, they are
willing to do to get me as far away from CentLunk as I can get.

we are stuck with c-link here in mo.
they only offer (not so) high speed internet. lol.
