I bought a bulk pack of 375 rounds and while shooting it out of my MKII & Single Sixs, it does not have a pleasant odor. I like the "Sweet" smell of normal smokeless powder but this stuff is unpleasant. Has anyone else noticed this? Lacey

I've noticed that with Wolf ammo in .223... but not in 22lr. Somebody changed the formula...

maybe that's why it's called tactical... the smell repeal Zombies and other miscreants.

tactical 22 ammo? kind of pushing it on marketing.

Only "kind of" pushing it ??? Sorry, but "Tactical" .22 rimfire ammunition is somewhere beyond absurd. May as well put that recently introduced "Zombie" ammunition in the same category.

I opened this thread hoping for an explanation of the "tactical" ammo thing. My best guess is they are aiming it for the new military looking "tactical rifles" in 22 lr. They amaze me by their existence. People really pay more for a 22 rifle so it LOOKS like an AR15? AMAZING!

Is the tactical ammo subsonic for suppressed guns by chance?

My money says it's aimed at anybody who will pay more for anything labeled "Tactical". At a gun show this past weekend, some guy was selling "Tactical" tomahawks, for chrissake. Gimme a break.

Gotta agree. My tactical Speedos did not go over well. Must be aimed at a younger crowd....

I too notice different burning powder smells, even some of my old favorites. Progress I reckon. That new copper removing powder works. Smell strange.
I wrote to one of the well known gun magazines that over uses tactical and told them they could up their subscription rate if they advertised that they used "tactical" ink on "operater" paper and "mission specific" font. They did not think it was funny? Now the big thing is "tactical pens" for big dollars. Why?? A Bic will shoot through a board. Thats good enough for me.

The smell of my handloads using Universal powder always reminds me of walking through an apple orchard. ...now come to think of it I don't think I have ever walked through an apple orchard. Oh well.
