CCI ammo at Walmart

I heard through the grape vine that Walmart would be holding back .22 RF ammo for today (10/4). I didn't take it too seriously... till my step-son and grandson stopped by this morning and told me he had just come from Walmart and that they had CCI standard velocity 100 packs in stock. He had bought a limit of 3 boxes. So I quick pulled my boots on and hustled over to the local store.... lo and behold..... they still had some!!!!

The guy ahead me bought 3 boxes, and it looked like there was only one 100 pack left. The lady behind the counter knows me, she grabbed the last 100 pack of the shelf and told me to hang on, that she had one more case in the back. She came back with another case and I got a limit of three 100 packs.

As I understand it, all the Walmart stores in this region got a shipment of .22 RF ammo with instructions to not put out for sale until today (10/4).

I'm glad I was around when he came by otherwise I'd have missed out.

I hope some of you guys here scored some also!!!

Yep, same thing in my area (NE Florida). I picked up 3 and my wife did also. Prices $24 for the 3 boxes. Still can believe I paid $24 for 300 rounds of .22LR but I guess that's the going rate. I was hoping they would have some federal or Winchester bulk but they didn't. I'm down to my last 3000 rounds. Things are getting tight

George, That's what I paid, $24.40 including tax for 300 rounds.

I do hope things are looking better for .22 RF availability.

Same deal in Ames, IA this morning. Good to see you still have 3000 rounds George. This was the first 22 LR I have seen on a store shelf in 2 years. Good timing I guess. I usually get the 'you just missed it' or 'a guy just bought the last box'. I'm pretty excited, now my wife wife and I can actually shoot our 22s, though we'll keep a little in reserve.

I got my 3 boxes at 7.47 a box of 100 It's standard velocity lead target ammo but it's .22 and it's CCI at a good price. First time I've seen any .22 in my Wally in 2 years. All other calibers are readily available. Walmart must have really twisted CCI's arm to get this much nationally at one time. 37$ a brick is almost like old times. Lol

They also had a sale on the Turkish ZQammo picked up some 7.62 x51 for about .39c each. Not bad for plinking ball ammo

We got lucky last Sunday and got 3 boxes of the Winchester 333 round boxes. I was getting something out of the car when Mrs. Tweety found that they had 4 boxes left. If I hadn't been outside, I could have bought the last one. (By the time I got back inside, somebody else was in the queue for that last box.)

That's the first 22LR ammo I've been able to buy in over a year, and we brought home nearly a thousand rounds! Hopefully, this 22LR crisis will end soon, though I sort of expect any comeback to be short-circuited by the the liars, whores and thieves in DC as they ratchet up a the rhetoric a notch or two starting about the second week of November.

On another note, at a gun show today I saw somebody selling the 100-round CCI packs. He had a lot of 'em. I hope he takes 'em all home, as he had $20 marked on the boxes. At nearly 2-bits a round, I'm not buying, that's for sure.

I had to stop at Wally World on the way home from work yesterday morning to pick up a couple of things, and took a trip thru sporting goods to check things out. They had a sign on their ammo case about the sale starting at 8 a.m., but I was too early by about 3-1/2 hrs.... :roll:

FWIW, my LGS has had .22 off and on. I bought 200 rounds of Winchester hollowpoints awhile back at $8.99 per 100.

I was in Wallyworld yesterday in Kalamazoo Mi. and they had the same deal going on there. 100 packs for $7.49.

That comes down to 37.45 PR. 500, so I just told the young man that I was encouraged to see some rimfire on the shelf, but it was still too high. I can handload the .32 S&W Long for less money than that.

What I would like to see W-Mart (and others) do is to sell this ammo on a daily basis, ie if they get it in once a week, then sell 1/7 of it each day. At least that way the hoarders would have to come in every day instead of meeting the delivery truck once a week/month/whatever. 8)

When it came in they would call their buddies who would promptly arrive and pay the scammers $35 per brick. The geniuses would then take the cash and pay for the ammo at retail, approximately $22 per brick, and pocket their 'profit'. He didn't know exactly what they were charged with, but were caught, arrested, convicted and jailed. An apparent federal violation of some sort. :shock: It sounds like the proverbial 'book' was thrown at them! :twisted: :twisted: :twisted:

Same here. CCI 100 round black boxes. $7.47 per box plus tax. Limit three boxes. Sale started at 8 am. I got there at 7:10 am and the line had already started. I did get my limit though, for the first time in way over a year.

I ended up meeting a buddy last night at 8:30pm for dinner and a movie. My wife sent me a text while we where in the movie and asked me to pick up some milk and pull-ups for our 4y/o. Walmart was right next door to the movie theater so I went in last night at 1:30am. Got the milk and pull-ups and for kicks, walked through the sporting goods section to see if they had any left. Sure enough, they had 30 or so boxes left. Got ahold of the manager and picked up another 3 boxes.

I had no doubt there would be some inside scammers! Glad they got busted! Two of the clerks in the sporting goods dept told me the same story, and one of them I've known for several years. No way will he be on the take. They claim that Walmart offers a smart phone app that shows where/when/how much is coming. They put together an army of buyers (total number of boxes received divided by 3 = the number of buyers they need) and head to the store when the truck arrives. They just hang out until they've bought it all up.

Why do thinking shooters continue to shop for 22 ammo at a store that has such limited availability in the first place. A bit masochistic, doncha think?

I don't like Walmart particularly, because I don't like huge warehouse stores. It is however the closest store to where I live so I end up in there about once a month. I walked in, tonight about 4:30pm and picked up some yard tools, and decided to go by and see what they had in Sporting Goods, there was a lady ahead of me asking for 243 which they had none then she asked for 22LR. They guy said how many? (three is the limit) she said one. I decided I'd see if that was the last one and I did get 3 packs of 100. First I've seen in the walmart for several months, which isn't saying much. I thought 8 cents was pretty good, I typically will buy if the price is between 10cents and 12 cents. Anymore than that I don't. Since I didn't have any when I moved to Idaho, I was a little more willing to be flexible. Glad Ruger Packer mentioned it as I wouldn't have known.

I'm certainly glad for any of you who were able to find and procure some .22 RF as a result of this post. I certainly hope that the availability of .22 RF ammo will get better in the days to come!!

We did the same thing at the same price this past Sunday. (Mrs. Tweety and I each got to buy 3 boxes of 100.)

That makes 2 Sunday mornings in a row we've scored some 22LR. 999 rounds one week, 600 the next. I actually feel like I should go shoot some of my 22s again!

NOPE; That would be a"RETAIL THEFT" and a blatant violation of Walmart's Employee Rules. you ARE NEVER permitted in ANY retail organization to "BUY" their goods and then sell them at a higher price before they are offered to the general public.

I've been reading this thread about .22lr availability at wal-mart, so I stopped in the other day on the way home from work tpo see if they had any available.

The older gentleman at the sporting goods counter said they had some earlier in the day, but it was sold out.

I stopped in again on Friday, and the same older gentleman told me he hadn't seen any come in the store in a long time.

One or both of his statements was obviously a lie.

What is this country coming to when you can't even get a truthful statement from an older Wal-mart employee???

I suppose he sees so many customers per day that he didn't remember me, but I only see an occasional Wal-Mart employee, so he was pretty easy for me to remember.

Why do people find it so easy and acceptable to lie about the most trivial of things???

I guess it is possible he was a democrat/liberal/progressive/socialist and therefore was genetically predisposed to lying ala Obama/Pelosi/Reed/Biden, et al.

10 years ago it was $1.95 a brick, which is 500 at basspro. My kids used up at least a brick a week practicing and in competition I bought special ammo by the case. I drive past them 3 timed a week and always bought as much as I could carry. Kept them away from my ammo. Then noticed basspro has sale on 22, went in was a brick of 400 no coating on bullets,$2.95 sale price, walked away, looked at 12 G went home empty. 2 weeks later 22 400 was on sale for $1.95, wouldnt buy. mgr asked me, told me its going to get worse, govt is charging tax on every single item in a case, ex; one case of 20 packages only paid tax on case, now was tax on every package or box in a case, thats illegal, double taxation, govt said pay or go broke in court while we use your money against you. I was using Win large pistol primers 15K a year on cowboy action shooting, a case 5K was $40, in 4 years the price went to $65@5K then I bought rom one dealer 10 cases at a time, primers dont go bad, govt again, new law regulating amount of primers one person may have. Prices went up to $100 case. Now 100 costs almost the same as a case. Dont blame this on the dealer its obama.
