Tuesday afternoon I began to feel as if I had a cockleburr in my nasal passages, and Wednesday morning felt as if I had a basketball in my nostrils. Took a bunch of over the counter stuff and now feel as if I have a touch of bronchitis, lots of coughing. This has made my chest rather sore.

Nita asked me how I was feeling today and I was able to tell her I felt much better, but hurt a lot worse.

Man, I've had the same.

Started with me on Super Bowl Sunday and just getting over it. I tried to tough it out with over the counter meds; but nothing helped. Finally saw my doc and did a run of antibiotics. Much better after that; but within 2 days of finishing antibiotics, it started back.

Doc just started me on a 5 day burst of Prednisone. I am on day 3 now and feel 100% better. Also got an Albuterol inhaler as I had started wheezing at night.

Be ready to ride it out for at least two weeks....

After about three I felt better. Then two days later it came roaring back. On the mend, but a long way to go. Moral of my story is, if you think you are well don't hit the ground running, you might just relapse.

Doc told me that's what happened. Told me I should have taken two weeks off, not two days. Like a small business can take two weeks off and stay in business.

Be VERY careful. Wife has bad allergies, didn't seem to want to respond to her normal treatment. Turned out to be pneumonia, which was going through town like mad! Took her weeks. Just before she got over it, I was off on a Friday and got up. Couldn't catch my breath==bed to bathroom, sit down. Bathroom to end of hall: almost fell over. Hall to kitchen: almost fell over, out of breath the whole time. Staggered (literally) back to the bedroom and told her to take me to Urgent Care. They got me stabilized and sent me to the ER. Diagnosis: Heart Failure. Seems I had been off my water pill for 2 days (there was a reason), and the fluid built up in my chest, compressing my lungs!

Don't take anything for granted.

Thanks Bob. I think I have what you had. Is that like catching a computer virus from reading about it? :(
Not feeling too bad, but the cough is getting on my nerves.

I think I'm over it.... right at 2weeks and 2 days...
I worked through it the last week... just weak after a half a days work and temp going up and down...
pretty useless over this past weekend.
only problem now is I gave it to my wife and she is not happy.

I'm slowly getting over some kind of congested nasal thing that has lasted over a month, got to where I couldn't hardly sleep at night I would wake up in a panic unable to catch my breath then couldn't go back to sleep.

A trip to the doctor and prescribed an antibiotic and some of that good decongestant they keep behind the counter and I feel better already. Been feeling like a zombie the last few days, hoping to get a good nights sleep again.

In day 26 of it for me. Mine turned into pneumonia, then collapsed lung. I was healthy and active before this bug got me. I'm 54 and still lift weights, hike almost weekly, work in the yard, and so on. At least I used to. This thing completely shut me down. I've never had pneumonia in my life. The doc thinks the hard coughing is what collapsed my lung. I have never coughed so hard in my life. A dry unproductive cough. Be careful and try to ease up on the strength of your coughs if possible. I'm starting to feel like maybe I'm on the way back. I have stayed in the bed and couch for most of a month. Spent a day and a half in the hospital with the collapsed lung so they could put a tube in my chest. The first doctor I contacted said I had a cold!!!!!! Tested negative for flu but my doctor said this is a flu bug. It's a mean one too.

Well I feel lucky compared to many here. While I never coughed so hard in my life, antibiotics and musinex D dried me up and got me on the mend. It's been a good week, but at least I got a decent nights sleep last night and feeling a lot better. My chest is still a bit sore from the hacking.
I'm glad I went to doctor before it got any worse.
