Buying a New Car - Old man’s method:

A retired older couple returned to a Mercedes dealership where the salesman has just sold the car they had been keen on buying to a beautiful, leggy, busty blonde in a mini-skirt and a halter top.

The old man was visibly upset. He spoke to the salesman sharply:

"Young man, I thought you said you would hold that car until we raised the $55,000 asking price. Yet I just overheard you close the deal for $45,000 to that lovely young lady there. And if I remember right, you had insisted there was no way you could discount this model."

The salesman took a deep breath, cleared his throat and reached for a large glass of water.

"Well, what can I tell you? She had the cash ready, didn't need any financing help, and, Sir, just look at her, how could I resist?", replied the grinning salesman sheepishly.

Just then the young woman approached the senior couple and gave the car keys to the old man.

"There you go," she said. "I told you I could get that idiot to lower the price. See you later Dad, Happy Father's day."

Once again.... don't mess with seniors.

My mom was a marvelous car buyer. She took control from the get go. The last car she bought went like this.

A local dealer had a Buick Century advertised for a darned good price. What's know as a loss leader. So, Mom walks in with advertisement in hand and asks to see the car in the ad. The salesman starts "selling". She asks for the manager who comes out of his glass cubicle and before he can utter a word asks if the car is still available.

The manager is a bit brighter than the salesman and knows we have probably already seen it on the lot and answers that it still is.

Mom being mom asks for a different salesman to handle the transaction. New salesperson arrives (woman this time). She's apparently gotten the word, and after a through going over we retire to do the paperwork.

Salesperson starts to ask a about financing. At which time mom pulls out her check book and tells them financing won't be needed.

Pretty much disappointed the entire staff at the dealership as they didn't get a chance to rip off an old lady.
