Got out of college with a teaching degree I never used and worked a variety of jobs for the next ten years. From a sweatshop foreman to concrete finishing for a traveling road construction crew in the midwest. In 1983 I went to work running a rock drill for a blasting company and got my blasting license after a year. Spent the next 26 years working transporting, loading and detonating @ 1 1/2 million pounds of high explosive for new roads, homes and utilities. I liked working out in the woods when you could "let it fly" but the tight work was nerve racking. Then the crash @2008 hit and by 2010 the company closed. Out of work at 60yrs old I took a job driving a truck hauling high end cowhides to the leather district in upstate NY for finishing. It was a beautiful drive from Ct. to NY and I enjoyed the ride in good weather. It was a good way to coast into social security.
