Bye, Bye Charlie

But sadly, the folks in California had to support him after the Ca Government in all their wisdom
did away with the death penalty. That man was pure evil.

Sorry Charlie, Opps the wrong one. Manson was definitely a sick individual and shouldn't have spent anytime in Prison. To think the money the taxpayers paid keeping that mental case in the big house for all those years. I'm sure most of us would have volunteered to do what was right and let him meet his maker in a much more timely manner.
I hated seeing Mel Tillis pass away.

Some old guy druggie criminal dies of old age. Had he not killed someone in the movie business I wonder if anyone would have remembered him?

Read more. It wasn't who was killed. It was how!

Imagine having your baby cut out of you and then dying. Regardless of Sharon Tates profession, no one deserves that.

While I agree with you, but not the point. California prisons are full of disgusting murder tales that many have just never heard of. Michelle Michard's "rape van" springs to mind. Without a victim in the media their atrocities are forgotten.

He enjoyed celebrity status in prison, FBI profilers, psychologists, etc., were always coming to interview him.
Though he enjoyed little status among his fellow cons. Killing a pregnant woman ranks just above assaults on children in their world, and he wasn't even present-he sent his minions in to due the dirty work.

Her 8 & 1/2 month old baby boy was NOT cut from her womb. Just clarifying...

Ever notice a star gets killed on a charter flight and the paper will tell the stars name but just say the pilot was killed too. Reminds me of a old cartoon I seen, this guy is swimming up to a boat dock, tells someone there, dam boat flipped! Lost my new rod and tackle. Old Charley`s gone too.

Michelle Michaud sits on death row at the prison I work at. Her co-defendant James Daveggio sits on death row at San Quentin. One of their rape victims is her own 14 year old (at the time) daughter. Then there's Dana Gray, who avoided the DP by pleading guilty.

4 of Manson's murderous family are still doing life sentences - Leslie Van Houten, Patricia Krenwinkel, Charles Watson and Bobby Beusoleil.

When they reinstated the DP, the ones (like him) who were "spared" should have been put back on the list.
Maybe a better punishment for people like this should be put in a room with 10 people that the survivors pick.

Thank you Wolfsong, I was under the impression that Michaud had her sentence reduced. I have a "chat friend" that is a relative of one of their victims. It's only by that happenstance that I know of the sordid history. I can only say you have a stronger stomach than I to deal with these... people on a day to day basis.

Then we have read different accounts.

Why wasn't he offed in prison?
Manson wasn't in GP (General Population). He was on SNY (Special Needs Yard) when he wasn't in SHU (Segregated Housing Unit) for rules violations. SNY inmates are convicts who are at great risk due to their crimes and/or notoriety, or gang dropouts etc., in other words "prime targets". There is a code, believe it or not, among inmates. SNY inmates respect the individual danger that they all face if they were in GP, so a code of mutual existence is the rule on the SN yard. There are exceptions, however, and Manson was the subject of various assaults over the years. He was once doused with paint thinner and set on fire, suffering 2nd and 3rd degree burns, but obviously he survived it. He was far from a model prisoner.

Wasn't sure if you were talking about Charles Manson, or Charlie Rose. Looks like Charlie Rose is a goner too. WTF is wrong with these guys??
