I remember that special very well. I’ve watched it many times. I didn’t remember the doghouse band blue. I always thought it was Red. Charlie Brown was one of the first cartoons I turned to when we got the newspaper.

Sad. I was born the year this originally aired. I enjoyed watching all the Charlie Brown television specials every year growing up.

Watched the Rudolph show (with Yukon Cornelius and the Bumble and the island of misfit toys) a few nights ago. Guess what, those CHRISTMAS shows never get old

I have told my kids how each special was a treat. Calendars were marked, plans made. Like a Super Bowl celebration for kids.

We would go to my Grandparents house and watch with my younger aunts and uncles. Popcorn hot chocolate koolaid.

The Wizard of Oz was an epic event too.

Now we kids can watch these things whenever they want, which at first seemed great! But the magic was lost.

we bought all the rankin/bass movies for our kids several years ago when we discovered they weren't on tv anymore.

and I still insist on watching sound of music, it's a wonderful life, and miracle on 34th street every year at this time.

I was born in 1960. My older sister and I waited with great anticipation for every Charlie Brown Special during our childhood. Holidays would never have been the same without them. Thanks go out to Hittman for this awesome walk back in time.

Interesting submission that this special actually caused the demise of Aluminum Christmas trees. I remember that my Grandparents... Blumes. had one of those and I thought it was really weird. We living on a farm and having a couple hundred acres of forest always just went out and cut one down.

That made me remember we too used to have one of those aluminum trees. had a light with a spinning colored wheel you shined on it, turned it blue,red yellow and green. Also we were surrounded by forest and could have cut one anytime and usually did. must have been a fad at one time
