Leaving Wednesday morning for the annual 2-week Colorado camping trip. I was lucky enough to get a muley buck tag. Me and my ol' T/C Renegade are ready to hit the mountains again. This year I will be in the Sargents area around Monarch Pass.
I've been watching the weather there for a few weeks. The rains mean NO FIRE BAN! I was there a few years ago with a fire ban. They had been in a drought out there for a while so fire bans were in effect. I got there during a snowstorm LOL. Before I lost signal, I called CPW and asked about having a fire since the forercast was temps in the 30's (it's my rule of thumb that it's approximately 10* colder in the mountains than it is down in the towns where they forecast weather and temps). The lady said they met once a week and discussed that kind of stuff, and it was still in effect until the next meeting. Then they would decide. I like cooking over a fire, but that week I used a gas grill propane bottle and my fish cooker burner. I brought them because of the fire ban.I was at Monarch two weeks ago. They're getting some rain out there so things aren't as crispy/crunchy as it is sometimes.
Best of luck and have a safe trip.
