BX trigger

Bought a new BX trigger assembly last week and while installing it i noticed that it is identical to the original trigger assembly in my Charger, does anyone know if there is a way to identify a BX trigger from a standard trigger? It seems like they would have some markings on it telling what it is, like the BX-15 and BX-25 magazines that are clearly marked as such.

I would say to measure the trigger pull on the Charger. The BX trigger is about 2.5-3 lbs, the older ones were higher and not quite as smooth and crisp.

When I changed out the stock trigger for a BX in a customers Charger, you could definitely tell the difference.

Yes, that's the simple way... but you would think that Ruger would stamp or imprint something on the BX trigger group to show it is different.

Mark it yourself?

The synthetic housing should be easy to mark, and it's far from the first time users had to do that which the manufacturer should have but did not.

There is no problem marking the original or the BX to tell the difference, but it would be easy for someone to put an original trigger group in a BX package and sell it for the BX. The package is not sealed, it snaps open and is easy to snap back shut, package is not factory sealed.

I noticed that while looking at some on a rack/peg hook....thinking the same thing. So, how much better is the trigger set up from stock? What is a good price for one of those?

What year was you Charger made? I believe the newer Chargers, starting in 2014, come with the new BX trigger assembly.

If you're really concerned, do what I do and get your trigger improvements elsewhere. I refuse to reward Ruger for making poor triggers by buying the BX.

I don't know if this is true for all 10/22s but I tell mine BX triggers apart by the shape of the hammer when cocked. Of course the trigger pull is lighter on the BX but I like a visual reference. Maybe the same difference in hammers is noted in the Chargers?

That is really no different from a carmaker selling a V6 model and also offering a turbocharged V8 as a replacement engine. The base-model 10/22 guns are price-point firearms first, only a few models get the BX triggers.

Not quite an accurate metaphore.... if Ruger offered the 10/22 already equipped with the improved trigger for an extra $10 or $20 (or whatever), it would be the same thing. The automakers don't make you throw away your original engine and than install the new one, which is what Ruger does with the 10/22 trigger.

There are several places that will rework your existing trigger assembly for less than a BX trigger costs.

I put a VQ hammer in my late model with the plastic trigger assembly. It was cheaper than the BX, easy to install and made a big improvement in trigger operation and feel. And of course I didn't pay Ruger a dime for it.
