Browning BPS pump question

I was thinking about getting the Browning Micro Midas for a younger (left handed) shooter. the local shop doesn't have a Browning Pump in stock for me to look closely at the bottom feed/ejection design.
My concern/question;
can you see if the chamber is empty (to verify clear)?

On my older BPS you have to eject (pump) to see the chamber.

so the question still is, with the magazine empty and the action pumped back, can you actually see the empty chamber?

I think I have visulized it, when racked back, the loading gate should be "UP" to allow the spent case to slide out, thus the chamber can be seen....

is that right?

On my Ithaca M37, with an empty mag & the action bolt back, you can see the breech of the chamber easily.

I switched my youngest son from a single shot to a BPS , he was 15. He shoots left handed (left eyed dominate) this type of action was a good choice. That was 18 years ago, after years of Sporting Clays, Trap, waterfowling it is still going strong. As mentioned above one can work the action to see the chamber empty. Just takes a little time to getting use to working the action and turning the gun to check the chamber. I think you on are the right track. Good shooting.

I placed the order and the shotguns are already at the FFL. After seeing the action, my original question does seem extremely dumb

My next question is now how to personalize them so the cousins can tell which one is who's?
the dealer has suggested engraving the flat surface on the end of the magazine cap. I am a little concern that their monogram might change orentation with tightening.

Any suggestions?

Monogram the cap in a circle like the headstamp on a piece of brass maybe? You can make the letters smaller and put them on 3 times spaced out so one is bound to be the right direction when its looked at...just a thought.

Not having been in the military, this is just something I heard from someone who was: at one time, personnel were required to memorize the serial number on their weapon.

If that's true, it's pretty close to foolproof, no?

I would like something one could see while in the gun cabinet. The forearm is checkered where I would like to have the monograms engraved. But I don't think it would stand out is just cut into the checkering.

On the Browning Micro product line, Browning was offering a deal that as the youth grows up they could buy a replacement full size stock, deeply discounted. Might want to check that out for future reference. Bob

I finally got around to taking the stocks off and taking them to a trophy engraver.
for $15 (both), not to bad!
