Brass Grip Frame

I ran into a guy today who had three brass grip frames he claimed were for Rugers. All three had square back trigger guards and if I remember correctly they were stamped MR-3DB on the web between where the grips would be. He was asking $200.00 each. Can anyone verify for me that they are for a Ruger and for which model or models would they fit? Also, how's his asking price? I might be interested in purchasing one to put on a blue Old Army if it would work. Thanks for your time.

With that marking they are Ruger parts.

They have sold here for over $300 recently.

RENE shows them at $335 with the appropriate "wide" trigger.

They fit all the Old Models . . . Old Armys included.

You could offer him $500 for all three, and if he went for it you could keep one for yourself and sell the remaining two for $250 each, thus getting yours for free and making two more folks exceedingly happy.

Just a thought. I love spending other folks' money.

The Super Blackhawk trigger was included with every MR3-DB sold since the possibility existed that the grip frame would be installed on a Blackhawk or Single-Six which originally had the narrow style trigger. The "Dragoon" styled grip frames, in either carbon steel or brass, were cut for the wide, Super Blackhawk triggers.

Since the advent of the "New Models" all the Single-Sixes and Blackhawks have wide triggers. The early NM Supers had the "serrated" trigger but that feature has been dropped. I'm not certain of the year, though.

Thanks for the explaination Carl. Since I've never been one to alter or customize any of my revolvers, I am intrigued with installing a brass grip frame on my Old Army. That being said, I notice that my Old Army has a narrower trigger than some of my other Ruger revolvers, so how difficult would it be to obtain one of the wider triggers and install that along with a brass grip frame?

Not hard at all, unscew the trigger screw, pull the trigger, re-install the SBH trigger, re-install the trigger screw.

And if you need a OM SBH trigger, I might be able to help out.

Looks like I might be in the market for an old model super blackhawk trigger. I need to buy the brass grip frame first and then I will post a WTB.
