Brass grip frame

That is going to flex at that point. On my .44 M SBH, SS., last time out, I could feel something moving on grip frame. I found that small, front screw was loose. That OM .30 C is going to move alot.

Why do you say the front screw is missing? The only clear view of where it goes is where the grip frame has been entirely removed to show the cylinder frame is blued where the two of them come into contact. Or am I missing something?

It has a grip frame that takes Super Blackhawk grips. The only factory stag grips were only made for the early XR3 grip frame as far as I know.

That gun letters as a BKH31 per the letter. If it had been shipped from the factory with a brass grip frame then it would letter as a BKH31B. Ruger never offered Stag grips for the Super grip frame, which is what the size of the brass is. As for a reasonable price for the rig. Add up the value of an Old Model 30 cal., add the price of a set of Stag grips minus the price of walnut grips for the XR3-RED grip frame. plus the price of a Ruger Brass grip frame, if it is a Ruger brass frame, minus the cost of a XR3-RED grip frame.

One thing to note. So far no one has gotten a letter for a Brass Grip Frame 30 cal. that was shipped from the factory.

My mistake I see now frame has been removed. I missed that, looking on iPhone. Next question: .30 Carbine and .357 Max same main frame size as a Super Blackhawk? The cylinders for .30 .357 M longer than a .44?

That gun is not factory by the way things add up. As noted above,, the letter does not verify it as a factory brassie. Plus,, as noted,,, the grips are NOT factory Ruger grips.

Now,, dave,, the 30 carbine has the same size main frame as all the Blackhawks,,, EXCEPT the 357 Maximum. The 357 Maximum has a longer main frame.

I have an old model .30 Carbine Blackhawk, and the frame was blued even with the standard grip frame. I don't believe the seller's description at all.

Contender is right all Blackhawks and Super Blackhawks and the first Vaqueros have the large frames. The only exception is the Old Model 357 Blackhawks. It has the smaller mid-sized frame.

Thanks Contender and street! I'd like to have a .30 Carbine. But this one is out of reason. I bet that a .30 is a handful of power.

Either I'm not seeing that photo clearly or the lighting is bad, but there appears to be no threaded hole in the frame for that front screw?

And bluing the frame with the brass grip frame attached? Sounds as bogus to me as............

Bluing won't take on brass, I know, but it sure would discolor it so it would require polishing.

the threaded hole is there. Hard to see. I had to look a few times to see frame was loose. Guess I was amazed at $3,500.00 tag. That's 1963 Hawkeye land!

There has been some discussion on the frame being blued or not blued on a Brass Grip Frame gun from the factory. All Brass Frame guns are blued where the grip frame covers it. They are blued first and then the grip frame is installed. All guns that have blue grip frames will still be blued where the grip frame in installed because the grip frame is Alum. and is installed after the gun is blued.
The only gun that is not blued under the grip frame is the Super Blackhawk with it's normal blue grip frame. It is not blued because the grip frame is steel and it is mounted to the main frame and then blued. That would keep it from getting blued under the grip frame. Now when the Super is shipped with the Brass Grip Frame then it would be blued first and then the Brass Grip Frame would be installed. I hope this makes sense.

I believe that is discoloration from where the grip frame has been in place.

Thanks street. This seller is mixed up. His buddies have told him that he's sitting on a Gold mine!! Probably the only .30 C ever made like that!
