Any idea where a fella might find a reasonable priced brass grip frame for a Blackhawk? Bought a Blackhawk in 41Mag and the grip frame is trashed also needing an ejector rod housing and screw. Thanks Nick

Many companies have made them over the years. Some brass grip frames are currently being made. Just take your pick here:

You might consider a Ruger stainless steel grip frame. You can also get a super blackhawk size frame with round or square back trigger guard.

You can find ejector rod housings in alum alloy or blued stee. Ebay and gunbroker or the want ads on this forum are places to find any of the above.

Shopruger.com has some ejector rod housings when Iast looked a few days ago. As far as brass frames, you will not go wrong with the Ronnie Wells offerings at RW Gripframes. They have many different options, highly recommend his frames.

Welcome to the Forum!

In any form that actually works & doesn't require "final fitting" is not going to be cheap when it comes to brass.
Ruger factory brass g/f's run in the $350 range.
Ronnie Wells has some EXCELLENT g/f's of various shapes. Quality isn't cheap.

Is the 41 a New Model or an Old Model. Ruger Brass frame is for the Old Model. And as stated they go for around $350. One is on Gun Broker now. I know nothing about one for the New Model. There are many types of grip frames on GB

Its a new model Blackhawk. I’ve located a stainless grip frame thinking I’m just going to go that route it’ll look alright. Just got to set on some new grips thanks for the tips and help

I‘m interested to know what is “reasonably priced” ?

I will take the first step in this dance… As of late options start at ~$200, and as mentioned the Old Model Ruger Dragoon frames ~$350.

Ronnie Wells Grip Frames are ~350 + shipping, very nice, accurate, high quality well fitting, however they do take some experience/ skill to get to final fit & finish.

Can one find brass grip frames for ~$100 +/-,,, YES, there out there, it’s like bird hunting, Weather, Hatch, Feed, Predators, etc,,, and then the Season.
There out there for a lot of reasons, but I usually find there available because the ability/ skill to fit & finish was more than what was expected and the project was abandoned.

A new model dragoon that was purchased off EBay $100.

What Grips? This Question is better answered as to what you would like and your Budget, Ranging $30-$700.
There are a lot of nice custom options out there in the ~$200 range +/-.
IMO, It’s not about the $$ spent, it’s more about what YOU want on your gun.

Good Luck in you persuit.

Forgot, Welcome to the Forum.
Tell us more about your 41,
4.6” or 6.5 ? Sounds like a bit of a project.

My Old Model 41 was a project, a well used early 4 digit. After days of carefully de-leading the barrel, it was chuck clear full of lead, and the previous owner said the accuracy had diminished.🙄
Took it out and it’s a shooter.😄 All the lead had preserved the barrel, it’s now bright and crisp.

Brass Grip Frame, Black Mikarta Grips, Super Hammer, Steel Ejector Rod Housing, Micro Rear Sight.
The Aluminum ERH & Aluminum Rear sight were well worn out & hammered, Hammer had a broken off half cock notch. Grip Frame & Grips were well used.

I just sent the payment for it today don’t even have it in my possession yet. I’ll get some before pics of it uploaded once it’s in my possession. Just starting the parts hunt before it get here. Never have been much of a pistol guy always messed with the bolt action rifles. Venture off earlier this year and bought a Glock G40 gen 4 in 10mm and then found a Blackhawk convertible 10mm/40s&w now the bugs got me! Super Blackhawk hunter 44mag and 7.5” Redhawk 45 Colt.

NICE OLD ARMY’s /\/\/\
I’m a sucker for these Old Army’s.
Bought this gun for the barrel, It was coming from a friend that has a inside source for buying guns that are chopped in half thru the cylinder frame, the rest sold for salvage parts.
Totally expecting a piece of cylinder frame attached to a barrel this first year OA showed up in nice condition. Asked my friend why it wasn’t chopped and because it’s a Black Powder they didn’t need to destroy it.
Most of the parts were sold and it needed a grip frame. Found this MR3-DB for deal, it was messed up but salvageable. Have been working on rounding up the rest. Recently fit & re-finished these old walnut grips (Thanks mhblaw) and added some Brass OM Medallions.
It’s not being restored to Original, it is going back together as a a shooter that will be enjoyed. These pic’s were some quickies I sent to my son.

^^^ Very nice pistols. I’ll keep looking around but will most likely order a new brass frame from RW. The more I look at the brass frames on the blued revolvers the more I want one! To me they just look great!

When you say OM is this XR3 or XR3RED? I need an XR3 frame for an old model .45.

Shamus2022,,, the OM .45 was originally shipped with an XR3-RED grip frame. The screw pattern hasn't changed. You can put a XR3, XR3-RED, MR-3DB, or NXR3-RED etc on any gun.
HOWEVER,, it's the trigger return spring that makes the difference in the OM vs the NM grip frames. You can make an adapter to put a NM g/f under an OM gun, but it's not nearly as easy to put an OM g/f under a NM. It's all about the trigger return spring design.

If you go to the RW Grip Frame site, they have some brass frames offered at a discount. Worth a look, think you need to have an account set up to see discounted category. Really good deals!

Got it. What I need then is an XR3 frame (OR EQUIVALENT SIZE). My first guns were all 1950's FTs and I am very happy to have acquired a convertible .45 OM,,,but, strongly desire to put the XR3 frame on it for consistency of grip. If anyone has one to part with let me know.

While these are very nice (I own several Ruger revolvers myself), they are not pistols. They are revolvers and revolvers are not pistols. A 'pistol' is a handgun where the cartridge, or bullet, is fired from the barrel, which revolvers do not do. All semi auto handguns are pistols since the round is chanbered in the barrel from where it is shot. When handguns first came out, they were all loaded via the barrel, just as muskets were, and this is when the term 'pistol' started. I realize that people often use the term 'pistol' interchangeably with the term 'handguns', but this is technically not correct for they are different. All revolvers are handguns, and all pistols are also handguns, but revolvers are not pistols.

Shamus2022,, you will not get a Ruger factory XR3 grip frame. The one they made is the shape of the Super Blackhawk.
You'll need to look into an aftermarket grip frame.
Terry may have what you seek, and if not Ronnie Wells can help.
