Thinking of getting one of these to carry along while trail walking around my range property and for just the fun of popping cans and those pesky 2 liters that like to hang around in the woods.

Any of my Ruger friends have one and like to share thoughts on it?
Would be getting the .410/.45 Colt of course.

I do have other trail guns but something about that handy well built .410/ 45 derringer that I like!

The local gun shop usually has a couple in stock and may stop by and checkout the feel of it and the trigger pull.

My daughter in Louisiana has one to repel boarders while fishing in the bayou. To me they are Heavy. I prefer my Charter Arms Bulldog .44 spcl. To each their own.

I think I'm with gramps on that. Those derringers are FUN, until you put
some ammo in them. Had one for a while, until I found a guy that liked
it more than I did. YMMV.

:D

Think I will make up some shot shell .45-70 loads and just carry my BFR revolver.
While on the trail you would be well armed from nasty 2 liter bottles and cans to bear!

BTW.. I stopped by my LGS and they had one. Trigger takes a good downward pull and they didn't want to sell it anytime soon what with a 550 buck price tag! You can get them all day for 450 from Buds online.

I have the Bond Arms Ranger ll, in .45 Colt and .410.

They are a very well built gun, fit and finish is outstanding.
They made an improvement in the trigger and hammer a couple of years back... Google the difference so if you buy one, you will have the updated version.

I modified the one I have by removing a turn or so on the main spring... which reduced the trigger pull. Also lubed it with TS-70 Moly grease and synthetic oil.

I also modified the B.A.D. holster, removed the velcro strap and sewed a fixed belt loop on the back. I wanted to increase the upward angle for better crossdraw.. which I now have.

One big plus to the gun is the wide selection of barrels and calibers! ...from 2.5″ – 4.25 inch and in over 25 caliber combinations!

Recoil! This is pure BS!... unless you only shoot .22?

Me shooting full load .45 Colt...

Haven't shot the Bond but I have shot a couple of 45 Colt derringers. Hard to hold and inaccurate. Heavy as a snubby. A good 2357 or 44 spl snubby with a shot shell in it is better for snakes, IF YOU HAVE TO KILL THEM (and more shots, too)
